Theres some conversion things you buy which i think fit on where they used to join together. About £20 a corner if im not mistaken?

I imagine sorting out anti-roll bars, lowering and individualisng the suspension, and some decent adjustable dampers would give an equal, if not better perfomance than coilovers?

i was originally considering converting to coilovers all round on mine, but then a friend sold me his spare hydrolastic pump so i thought i would try it first. i had never lowered one before, but had taken the rear end appart on a customers car a few years back so i had a good idea what was involved.

it is a doddle, and does make a huge difference, however it was fitting some decent front dampers that totally transformed my car, there is minimal body roll now, and the grip with the yokos has also proved to be excellent. i would say its now easier to drive than my mini was on fast roads/twisty country lanes, and its also more comfortable than the mini ever was too.

Sounds like a worthwhile effort then. Is it literally just a case of cutting something down a bit?

its a very similar prinicipal to how mini suspension works, there is a spring, a trumpet and then the radius arm/top arm depending on which end your working on.

you let the fluid out to relax the spring, put the spring and trumpet out, carefully cut the required amount off the end of the trumpet/rod, refit it all, and gas it back up again. simple as that really.

Bringing an old thread back to life, i'm planning on lowering my new metro and putting on tens.

When it comes to cutting the rods, is it really obvious which bits need cutting? And i'm asuming all 4 are the same?
