Hey everyone!  After owning my car for 2 years I am finally getting around to replacing my cracked beyond repair heater core.  Only problem is I ordered a MK1 heater core replacement but it doesn't fit my any stretch of the imagination.  Take a look at the pictures below.  I think I have such an early box that they don't make cores for it anymore.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these cores?

Just spoke with them.  Sadly they no longer have those cores for sale.  :-(

Try the Mk1 forum http://mk1-forum.net you may have better luck finding the matrix you require. Member "Coopertune" is located near you in Virginia and has a 5500 square foot shop filled with parts. That is where I go when an early part is no longer available. Or call him, Steve Gibbs 757-880-9283.

Hello to both of you.

Steve may be able to help but if not, be sure to post your need for parts on the Mini Mania board.

I am assuming what you need is the very early re-circulatory (vs fresh air) heater core.  Replacement will likely be a "good used" unit or having your existing part re-cored.  Re-coring is not cheap though so a good used part may be your most economical solution.

EDIT:  I forgot to mention that since you are in Charlotte you could also contact Bill Cox in Earl (the Shelby area).  Bill is not likely to have the part you need but could probably locate it in the U.K. and have it sent with the next cars he has shipped over.

Cole, I see that Craig (a.k.a. Mousy) on the MM board may have the heater core you need.  Craig is a top-notch guy.  He used to run a Mini service garage in Canada as well as sell parts.  If the cores he has are the right size, do not hesitate to buy from him.   However, it will cost a bit more to ship from Canada.  I bought many parts from Craig before he closed his shop.

I just spoke with Craig on the MM board he and I are in touch and he has a ton of the heater cores.  He is super nice and willing to ship from Canada.  I am finally gonna have a heater again and it will be period correct!!
