Well had atleast 3 successful days driving and then things went downhill unfortunately :/ went to pick up my bucket seats from Cheltenham which in theory was a good idea haha started off okay went to pick my mate up and as we went to leave it overheated and spat some water out. I didn't think much of it then so we filled up got some extra water and set off. Got to Cheltenham okay temperature stayed about mid range so wasnt any concern. So started driving home went through a few windy roads and handling got a bit shakey so we pulled over to have a look and I had managed to shear a wheel stud on the front passenger side I think a combination of a lose wheel nut and mad potholes so we found a someone in a garage who had a car jack and wheel brace so we took the wheel off had a look and it seemed okay so we put it back on and tighted back up. Took it really steady on the way back and made it back to bristol okay. So I went to moss to get a new stud from them. Got it to a bit of traffic and the temp gauge was rising rather quickly. So I was turning the engine off when we were sitting still then went to pull off and steam was spitting out of the bonnet so I stopped and checked what was wrong and the expansion cap hax blown off again so I pushed the car off the duel garage way which was rather slow traffic so no risk. Then whilst I was looking for the cap lucas1amps turned up and gave me a hand finding it and refilling the water system which had an airlock in the bottom hose as it was stone cold and also the fan doesnt look to be working properly which wouldn't help as moss was literally round the corner I drove off and made it about 100 metres and it did it again so quick phone call to dad and he arrived with plenty of water so topped up and played about with it and started to get a lot of foam out of the expansion bottle so we assumed the head gasket so went to moss got a new headgasket and the wheel stud and limped home without the cap on and stopped a few times for a water top up. So today I striped the head off and unfortunately the head gasket was in a good condition with no breaks a quick level check and a bit of coke removal and all good
Thats about it for now
Jack

i wonder if you could fit a rear brace like that to a mini, over the shocks, and if it would make a difference?

I doubt it would do much if the rear seat panel was still in place as that would be good enough also an ally fuel tank would need to be fitted so it fits
