The metro has died ish
I was driving to work on Monday and went to pull away and suddenly there is a horrible grinding in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear not taken it apart yet but its not looking good by the looks its internal gearbox so annoyed only 7 weeks of driving it.
I hope to have a look on Friday depending on the weather really but Ill keep this updated

If it'll drive in 4th then you've stripped the gears off the 1st motion or laygear...

its not a hard job for a guy like guessworks, but im guessing if your asking how tricky it is, you wont want to undertake the first part of the job, which is getting the whole unit out and splitting the box of it. all you gotta do then is send it to guessworks, and slap it all back together and in again

I taken the engine out of my mini before with the help of some guys from my mini club but the mini is now sat on my drive not working but thats down to the selector being put back wrong. I think people are starting to like metros a bit more especially now there are less of them on the roads

Surprisingly, now I have one, I see plenty more around and there's quite a few cropping up on the flea-bay

If you actually want a metro however, get yourself on to this facebook group....

Alright Guys
Not a proper update but dad is building a new MOT centre in the centre of Bristol and we have been luckily enough that the guy who is having it built is letting me using it to get the car fixed free of charge so hopefully the engine will be out this afternoon/evening and I booking this week off to get the engine split and diagnosed to see what's wrong.
I'll keep you posted
Cheers Jack

A bit of an update,
Got some time to get the hubs and driveshafts off to find the problem but no luck all the spilines loom very good so not them and all the joints are very good condition as well. So took the engine out to have a look inside, whilst doing so I found a snapped engine support bracket which explains the rocking but not the grinding. So took the diff out after the engine was released and that was all in good condition so I'll start on the clutch in the week.
Here's some pictures anyway

Well this update should put some light on the problem or the lack of one took the clutch housing and everything looked okay the clutch was knackered but not bad enough to be a failure yet small amount of iron filings where the rivets on one side have been rubbing. So I continued to strip down took of the transfer casing expecting to find a problem but nothing all looks as sweet as it can be bearings are smooth so at this point I assumed it must be the gearbox so I continued tbe strip down removed the carb and manifolds and the alternator belt and split the engine and guess what? Its in perfect condition this has to be the strangest feeling ive had, whilst pleased it wasnt broken also kind of annoyed as there is no problem. Any way and a little bit of head scratching and I have this theory one broken rear engine steady two healthy engine steadies, now when the engine is under load the engine moves when there are three steadies its moves very small amount so of one is missing the engine would twist casuing the driveshafts on the cv joints on the diff to move and to rubbing or cause the bearings to jump out of place does this sounds plausible to anyone else?
ill upload some pictures now.
