Cheers Rob,

Good meeting you at the Rally, only wished i had more time to talk with you properly.

Everything went well until we got lost lol

The car was a pleasure to drive and the RB1'S gripped well.

Need to find an event in July ;)

Been away from TMF for a while as all things Mini were put on stop due to the birth of our lovely new arrival William.

As both Vic and Will were doing very well i reopened the shed door and set about preparing Mellten for our next Mini adventure.Once i had the green light from Vic i submitted my entry to Rali Mon over in Anglesey.I had three weeks to go through her as apart from a thorough clean i had not laid a finger on the car since our last Rally.

First job wheels off and give her a good inspection.

Clipboard at the ready i started at one end of the car and worked my way through.

The list

1) Re adjust rear Drums and Hand Brake.

2) Fit Camber Brackets to Rear Subframe.

3) Fit new Polycarbonate Windows to N/S & O/S Doors.

4) Fit Reconditioned and Re calibrated Speedo & new cable.

5) Replace Alternator for a 70 Amp unit.

6) Change Oil and Filter.

7) Fit adjustable tie rods, new track rod ends and -1.5 bottom arms.

8) Inspect for Damage/Loose nuts and bolts.

Once i had finished my inspection found the list had grown a little. Both front shock absorbers were goosed and also found one of the bolts were bent.

Ordered some new shocks for the front and replaced bent bolt.

Hi, I contacted Maniflow direct and mentioned it was to be fitted to a Rally Car, i really can't tell you the bore as i have forgotten. What they did tell me it would be slightly different to a off the shelf item from the likes of Mini Sport/Spares as it has better ground clearance. With out comparing it to another system not sure how true there claims are. It has two silencers to ensure it complies with noise regs and passes with flying colours every 84 dbl. They are an excellent company to deal with and very efficient.

After 8 runs found a good balance of torque and power, 98 BHP at the wheels at 5678 Rpm.

Now need to save some money for a straight cut gear kit !

Final touches before our next outing " Rally Gogledd " Cant wait !!

Got the loan of a ramp to do some investigating into my alignment issue.

mini01-10-2014102_zpsd785de98.jpg

Not sure if you can see clearly  but iv attached nylon fishing line with some heavy nuts attached so i can start measuring sub frame/body alignment.

After about an hour of measuring and checking found the car body to be surprisingly good Thank F%£k !!

What i did find is that the o/s/f bulkhead engine mount didn't look the same as the n/s one.

It seems to have stretched due to a knock ???? Not sure. Iv ordered solid mounts along with a hole heap of other bits.

Once iv re mounted the front sub i hope my alignment issue will be cured  :D

Has anybody had any joy with camber/caster measuring gadgets ? Any recommendations ????

Just double check any talk of future road rally reg changes. I'm sure there was talk about banning SC gearboxes due to noise.  Can't remember who mentioned it, but someone did and wouldn't want you to spend £££ and only be able to do stage events.

How come you're doing the JD and not the Gogledd?

But if you're entered as a novice on the JD, why not just do the big boys rally and enter as a novice anyway.....ha ha ha.

Enjoy Anglesey.

Fired up the compressor, toped up the pot and got Blasting.

IMG_1663_zps1cfb30e4.jpg

Very happy with the result, unfortunately the heavens opened so i had to retire to the shed and do a little tidying up ;(

Im using kiln dried sand if anybody's interested, just nice for cleaning up Ali parts. Cheep and easy to source  ;D
