hi, tried to rotate the crank via the 34mm bolt with long bar and not too much force but its still not bugging,
the diesel is still sitting in the bores as well, cars in 2nd gear and handbrake is off, I'm waiting for a Miracle!

Anyone's got a complete engine that they want to sell?

You either need to try and turn it over by rocking it in gear, or in neutral with a socket!
But as suggested it'd be easier to rock it in gear

If you get really desperate you hire the 5 strong guys from you rlocal bar and make them push the car when in gear.. But a high risk on breaking piston rings..

To be fair, it sounds like it needs to come apart anyway

whats the chances that it will turn if pushed by 8 Fat guyS.

Could it be a clutch or flywheel issue?

Chances are 50% or it turns or it breaks....
Given the fact that it was in diesel so long I think it would move.. But piston rings are fragile :l

Roofers Torch it is then!!

Or get it as fast as you can in neutral then clutch, in gear, dump clutch
Put your seatbelt on!!

Lets be honest now, even if you did manage to turn it it's not going to be a healthy engine.
If it were me I'd be pulling the engine apart and getting it ready for a re-bore and a thorough inspection of everything else possible damaged by the water that's got in there.

A bit of heat with a big flame like a roofers torch wouldn't hurt much either.
Cough* fire + diesel *cough*
Diesel is only really flammable under compression. It certainly wont ignite when you try with a lighter! (misspent youth) Okay, a roofers torch would produce enough heat to ignite it. But not if you're careful
I had figured that most people wouldn't bother trying it when the bore was full of fuel, but perhaps I was wrong.....

The car needs to be in top gear and I would suggest that you try gently shocking the pistons to break them away from the corrosion. I'd also suggest that you'll get results by bumping the car backwards and forwards - If you have any mechanical sympathy then you'll feel the spring in the engine mounts and drive line and just go that far .

Hi,
over the week end I towed the mini with another car and its still not managed to turn the engine, I belive thers something locking the flywheel..
anyway I have sourced another 1275 complete running gear with low miles that I am getting fitted to my mini very soon.
ive had mini enthusiast come and look at the running gear I have in the mini already and he confirmed its a 12h unit from a MG, also the head is a big valve head,
if someone is interested in the parts from my set up than let me know as I need funds for my new engine...
