Maybe people could send photos to the page, then the page could share them? (like what Mini Magazine do). This would keep the page active and spread the word a little, but without people just being able to post what they like.

So we still have the opportunity to share photos amongst people, it's obviously not the same, but I think it could still work.

Yeah, there's loads of ways of doing it, you'd need someone dedicated to it though, as you've got to generate a LOT of content and keep it coming. It's hard work, but like you say if you can have some community input it would lower the workload somewhat.

As for image uploads being streamlined I'm sure we can make it better than uploading to Photobucket and pasting across the link. If TMF needs to host the images itself then we will have to throw some money at it and get some storage set up to handle that sort of data.

That could work, but surely it would cost a lot of money? If people used it instead of PB, surely there would come a point where they use up all of their allowance? They would then start to delete pictures. When you go through old threads and find deleted and missing pictures, especially in the projects section, it would soon become annoying.

I think PB or any of the other sites works well enough. it would just be a lot better if you could simply select multiple images in PB, press IMG tag once and be able to paste the whole thing into a post on here. Obviously that is something PB would need to sort and not here but would make it work a lot better.

It would be a significant cost unfortunately yes.

However, I've just taken a look and Photobucket does have an API which means you could upload your image directly to Photobucket through TMF. I'll have to take a better look at this when I have a little more time.

Get that working on the forum, and it will be brilliant. The forum will surely need less space itself then as you won't have to give everyone an allowance?

The reason I use Photobucket, as opposed to the forum image uploader, is not only is it quicker and easier using an iPhone app, but the images show up large in posts which means people don't need to keep clicking on every thumbnail.

Is there any way you would be able to embed a Google search with the prefix site:theminiforum.co.uk into the search function? That would definitely improve it as I have found it searches topic titles and content. I also use it in Google Images if searching for images, whether that would be able to be incorporated into the forum I don't know.
