Hi all, it seems to me that it's getting more common....... Why do people say/type brought instead of bought?

Cheers

I don't see how they can be mistaken when typing, maybe its auto correct on these stupid modern phones ?

It is another one of the many words in the English language which has been misheard somewhere along the line.

I personally get very annoyed when pacific words are spelt wrong.  ;D

Like you, I to had bad grammar but sometimes it is the auto fill. I know when I type something I am generally spelling things correctly so just press send/post and it is only after the post comes up that I see that my iPad has replaced a word with something else. Perhaps it would be better if I could touch type looking at the text I am typing rather than the keyboard.

Drives me mad! It takes all my energy not to reply with things like "Where did you bring it from?" when someone has "brought it off a mate".

I did recently see something on Facebook asking "What was the first car you driven?" which is even worse.

Unfortunately, I think it's only getting worse.

So what if the chap didn't finish school and hasn't got an education, That's he's business you shouldn't be so concerned pmsl ;-)

Or when people say 'of' instead of 'have'... "I would of brought it" = "I would have bought it" <_<

If you do then I guess your probably right..... And your right it isn't clever..... It was only a question as to why people do it, no one has pointed a finger at you, it was you who stepped forward????? Best thing to do is use the right words...:0)
