Mini one, 57 plate, convertable.

 

Help needed.

 

My girlfriends mini was flooded due to a leak in the door seals. This required me to strip the entire car to take the carpet out and dry it (and fix the problem).

 

On taking out the carpet I found a couple of loose wires under the drivers seat. I have attached a picture and hope someone can tell me what these are for, how to fix it etc?

 

Nothing is actually not working in the car (apart from the radio that says DISABLED, but im assumin this was to do with me disconntecting the battery (?) )

 

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

What sort of mini are we talking about here. Is it a Classic or the modern BMW Mini??

if its under the seats it may be part of the SRS airbag system.....

ok thank you. the airbag system is a different unit and is all fine as far as I can see.

It may be a connector for heated seats

this model doesnt have heated seats, at a total loss! lol.

Just a thought but VW's have Cabin Control Modules mounted on the floor and when these get wet etc massive problems arise. Maybe worth looking around for something similar.

thing is there seems to be absolutely nothing wrong with the car, not experiencing any sort of mechancal/electrical faults due to the dicontected wires.

 

Well, apart from the radio, but had this on a previous car and it was because the battery was disonnected/run flat. Hopefully a code from mini dealers will sort that out.

Did a quick search and found this

no details as to what connects to it. Have you tried giving BMW a call. Or take a trip down to the local dealer and ask their service dept. Worth a punt.

yh, I have to take it down for the radio. Maybe this will be my best bet.

I would say the way the BINI is assembled it is very easy to add options at the factory (because theres so much customisability) I would imagine being under the seats those are for electric or heated seats, there wont be many different looms available for the model so instead they often use one loom that fits all, hence 'spare' connectors :) 

Edit, they wont be part of the SRS system, all SRS wires are yellow in colour by law :)

Alex_B, would you say in leaving these disconneced as they are, would be fine?

well I would post the question on MINI2 or similar incase they know what it is, but I would say run a check of all the systems on the car, check nothing has stopped working or if any error messages have popped up, if not then I would say its just part of an option your car doesnt have
