If it needs resetting, disconnect the battery and leave for 30 minutes. That should clear the ECU, far as I'm aware. Howcomes you need to reset it?

If it needs resetting, disconnect the battery and leave for 30 minutes. That should clear the ECU, far as I'm aware. Howcomes you need to reset it?

Unfortunately, this method won't clear any fault codes. To do that, you need a fault code reader, of which there are many members on here including myself with one

Oh really?? I always was under the assumption disconnecting the battery did clear the faults. Fair enough, I may have to invest in one of them myself

Disconnecting the battery just clears what the ECU has learnt about the engine, fault code readers can be bought on eBay for between £100 and £200. Popular readers are made by Sykes Pickavent and Crypton
