I got the engine back together and got to the point ofsetting up the timing gears, and found that the crank was stuck solid. So i had to strip it back down to find the cause, after much head scratching i found that the new crank did not mate with the new bearings so there was no running clearance. Proper nightmare...
So now because of the time leading up to the showdown this weekend, i am going to have to send it to a local engineering shop to get the engine built back up, hoping that this will be done befor friday so i will have time to put the engine back in the car and set everything back up.
I think i will be cutting it very close, i just hope that all goes to plan now and i am able to make it.
So now i have to

I sent the crank to my engineering shop to get sorted, And they did with about half an hours notice (awsome chaps)
I got the crank and new bearings back home to install. Once installed the same problem was happening, when torqued down the crank was completly solid. So with some great help from you guys i managed to find the problem. It was the rod end caps being the wrong way around, even though they went back on the same way as they came off (i know this because i took photos of the strip down)
So anyway I have now built the engine back up ready to go back in tomorrow.
Avon hear i come........

Pretty happy with the results really, although i do look like a chump sitting on the step of the car. One thing thats not great is that they didnt amend the spec sheet, as you will read above a fair bit has gone on since the shoot. I did email them the new spec but clearly they didnt get it.
never mind, i managed to get it in the mag so im pretty happy.
She now has a name, in this thread i stated that she did not have a name due to the fact that i couldnt think of one that suited her, but now she will be known as Blue Thunder. Cheers mini mag.
