Looking to get a good wax for my mini, would like to know it is protecting it as well as making it look its shiny best.
Don't know which to get, as I had a look and realised there are hard waxes liquid waxes, wax/soap combos etc etc. help?

Personal preference, vast baffling choice out there .I have a variety of Autoglym and Meguiars stuff, Im using Meguiars Ultimate liquid wax at the minute which seems good.

I've used Autoglym HD wax for a long time and it works well for the best part of 2/3months for me (my car is sat outside getting rained on all day every day) But someone suggested the turtlewax hard stuff last week and it's only £6 odd! So I'm going to give that a go next weekend if it's dry (:. Autoglym or Maguires both do good shampoos too. I'd suggest getting a clay bar too if you want it looking smooth, it's not really just waxing you need to do it's the whole process.
cheers man, never heard of a clay bar before though.
So you wash your car with an autoglym shampoo and water, then wax with the HD wax?

No, if I'm doing the works I wash, clay, polish then wax. You don't need to use a good wax every time you wash it unless you wash it once ever few months. I spend a lot more time on cleaning my car than most though, like I said though it lives outside and probs gets dirtier than some.cheers man, never heard of a clay bar before though.I've used Autoglym HD wax for a long time and it works well for the best part of 2/3months for me (my car is sat outside getting rained on all day every day) But someone suggested the turtlewax hard stuff last week and it's only £6 odd! i have tried a few but i find autoglym resin polish (the one with the red square on the label) i use it on the body and all the glass.
makes water bead up and roll off the entire car, and seems to make the wipers much more effective. been using it all over for 15 years now! wouldnt use anything else!

so there is an autoglym polish too, for using between the wash and the wax?

If you want yeah, you can use whatever brand you like though, not just autoglym.

you can tell your other half is a valeter shauna lol
Haha, ask him about my hoard of car cleaning stuff when you see him next. He doesn't do half as good of a job as I do . Dirt was holding his mini together when it was on the road ;)

collinite 476, did the wife's car with it 8 months ago, only gets washed every 6 weeks and still looks great when it's had a wash, no need to dry it, just go over it with a silicone squeegee.

Don't laugh but once the car has been cleaned (properly) and waxed etc there's nothing better between waxes (months apart) than good old Mr Sheen. I swear by it and old a quid a tin. I use it on my GSXR1000 and that looks showroom fresh all the time and I've never waxed that.
