Once the car is waxed, when it gets dirty is it just a case of washing it and drying it, until it needs another wax? Or is it a good idea to wax once and then use a coat of polish after every wash and dry, until the next wax? I use Collinite 476.

As I understand it anything deemed polish has 'some' abrasive quality so I presume once its waxed only wash it then either add more wax or clean it all off with various grades of polish before re applying the wax?

I have used Collonite 476 on red and silver cars for several years.

It produces a good depth of shine after a couple of coats and is very durable. Mine is still beading well after 4 months.

It is relatively expensive to buy but lasts for years and is good value.

I use a good quality shampoo and microfibre drying cloth and it comes up like new.

These people stock the lot and I have always had excellent service.

It usually lasts a long time really depends on how much you top up, how many layers you apply, etc etc.. Just spread it thinly!
And yep once waxed, Just wash it with some shampoo, and dry with a microfibre drying towel. And top up wax if you feel like it needs it. A quick detailer is also good after each wash as it's quick and easy but adds another layer of protection and more gloss.

It's also worth remembering that the sun does an awful lot of damage to paintwork and will fade it (for some reason, there's a lot of old pink Astras around!) A good wax will help, but can't stop that. And bird poo is so destructive. If your car is left outside, it'd be an idea to invest in a cover as well as all the chemical bits :proud:

Collinite 476 for long lasting. I love using Autosmart Wax (its called "wax") and britemax vantage. I've also got fk1000p in my kit amongst poor boys and several others

You'll soon learn how much you should be applying - it should be a thin even layer (when I first started I used to whack loads on, only to find it was a real pain to remove). They should (dependant on type) last quite a while.

Some get a few cars out of a dodo juice panel pot - depends how much you use.

I tried some Meguiar deep crystal carnauba wax for the first time last Saturday. I usually use Auto Glym Deep Gloss protection or something like that but fancied a change.

The Megs stuff was really simple to use and was very easy to remove, especially was it was pretty got at the time, I find sometimes it cooks on but the Megs stuff came off with no troubles.

I would love some Auto Glym High Definition wax, but I'm just not prepared to make that sort of commitment to something like a wax yet!

Maguires tyre dressing smells blooming beautiful!

Anyone looking to buy HD wax, don't just walk into halfords and buy it, unless they have the 3 for 2 offer on. I paid about £30 for mine instead of £45. Possibly from Amazon, it was a while ago so I can't remember!

Yeah, they have the offer on quite a lot, it's the only reason I actually go in there haha.

Is this the stuff that is a slight tone of yellow or the clear stuff?

I used the yellowish stuff, burgandy bottle and was pretty pleased.
