Drove to town earlier (about 3 miles) and on the way home the front right wheel started making the highest pitch squeal/squeak. This continued until i reached the supermarket. I left the car to cool and went shopping then drove home without the loud squeal; this time it was much quieter.

This evening I jacked the car up and rotated the wheel. Again it squeaks but there is no play in the wheel at all in any direction. Just for giggles I tried the other wheel and it too appears to be rubbing. The car is running 12x6 Revo's on standard brakes. Any ideas what this could be and what i should look for?

Thanks for your help.

Pads worn too low? Pads touching the hub?

Sure it was front and not back? Maybe a brake shoe lining catching or even come adrift. Worth checking around the car as noises have the strangest way of travelling and you think its coming from somewhere when it might not be.

Done afew wheel bearings due to that, people saying its defo the front right and it turns out to be the rear for example.

How freely should the wheels move? I had to use both hands to move them both.

Okay. So took to it to the garage to have it checked and the pads were bare metal. They changed pads but now there's no pedal pressure - they think master cylinder seal. Thoughts?

Change the disks too.

Yes years ago I repeatedly allowed pads to wear down (no money) and of course they only wear down quicker and quicker as you wreck the surface of the disk. Now I am diligent (read - have the right amount of money to run a car) so pads are always changed ahead of time and I generally change the disks every two pad changes.

In your case, definitely change the disks now as they will be trashed.
