So, I've probably had my car for around 9 months now, being my first mini and having to drive so far to pic the car up, we didn't really even check over it, which now I know was a huge mistake! But having grown a little attached to my little car I don't feel like I can abandon her! I will post some pictures of when I picked her up, what I have found and what she looks like now :(

Get some bracing in there man!!, before the whole thing sags.

Looks such a smart mini in the first shot, the black and chrome go well in the ammount and way it's been done, are you keeping it like that ?

Okay, definitely will do, read a lot about bracing before it changes shape pretty much! But it really was, looked great when I first picked it up but it's so surprising what people can hide :( we actually found chunks of silicone in the sills!

Bracing across the doors width and across from B-post to the other B-post would be a good start for bracing, also across from A-post to A-poat and a diagnol from an A-post bar to a B-post bar should do it.

Try and use some think walled/small diameter box section, say something along the liines of 25x25x3mm box, that way you still retain a good sturdy structure, but at the same time you're not weld with but gurders to wrap yourself around whilst welding.

Seriously? People are overly superstitious with bracing on this forum. By rights that car should already have sagged, the sections shown are mainly rust anyway!

The floor and crossmember are still very much intacts and i'm sure the door still fits with near perfect gapping so why bother taking the risk for such an easy and worth while task ?

Also despite it being rust, it still has strenth in it's box section sills and as mentioned the crossmeber which braces to each sill itself.

We're just trying to be of use.

And I appreciate it, I would rather do such a simple and easy job now and prevent a bigger problem later on!

Hey guys, little bit of help here, there is a small panel that goes underneath the windscreen corner panel, after starting on the front end we found ours glued in... great... but it looks like the person has tried to have a little go at making there own, would this be the panel I need?

Yes that's the correct panel, you'll need two of course, one either side ;D .

I made my own to save a little money and time on postage, they are an easy panel to make to be honest.

Bonding the panel in place isn't such a bad idea you know, as long as the bond is strong it does help keep rust at bay a bit more because theres no thermal process (welding) which would burn away the inner layer of protection, plus it'd Mack maintenance and inspection of the underside of the scuttle alot easier.
