Hi Guys

I've been looking at fitting an oil accumulator and external oil filter head. Stupid question, which way round does the stock A series pump the oil??

Is it the oils pumped out from the bottom and the return is to the top

OR

Out from the top and return is to the bottom

Thanks Mr Bounce, that was exactly what I wanted to know :) Kudos to the original author!

So it's out at the top and return to the bottom.

I've purchased the Minisport filter sandwich plate and fitted a 5/16 to AN-10 fitting. Ordinarily I'd just get one of the standard filter head gaskets but I'm not sure if the instructions suggest I shouldn't use a gasket? What do you think? Gasket or no gasket?

That doesn't look like a sandwich plate, more like a take off that replaces the filter head? As such would need a gasket.

However, the instruction read for a sandwich plate - ie something sandwiched between the filter and the the filter head. As such would screw on to the head like a filter and would have a rubber o ring on the sealing face, like a filter.

Thanks guys :) You're both correct, it is a take off plate to replace the later style spin on filter heads. I've read a couple of other manufacrure's instructions and one of them suggests using two of part: 12A2035. I think I might just get some 2 or 3mm gasket paper and make my own. One with more surface area as the mating surface on the block and take off are circular.

Can't see why you'd need to use two?
I would actually use 88G402.

On each side of what Dan? The take off bolts in place of the head and then has a JIC fitting for outlet to the external filter.

As above the instructions are generic and could be used for a sandwich plate, not specifically for a takeoff.
