Unfortunately the "S" ones in the ad don't fit a mini but I'm investigating to see if he has another set...

I have seen those, I may buy a set just to keep as they wont fit any of my wheels. Ive decided to stick with the Mamba wheels I currently have but with the genuine 70's centre caps (if I can find some) as I just like them too much! I also have all the bits back from powder coating, a very good job they have done too. Also part way through painting the engine, will grab some pics after tea. Just need to find a cone compressor to borrow and the front will be back together in no time! Ive also been given another Speedwell catalogue by a friend who I restore watches for (another little hobby of mine) and bought and restored Speedwell oil pressure gauge. Ive had some very interesting offers for the Speedwell stuff from a few people Ive met through work, far more than Ive paid for the bits combined, but they are not going anywhere but on the Clubby ;)

And another of all the bits laid out (minus the second catalogue and oil pressure gauge), I do like just looking at this stuff!

So. Much. Love. This is going to be stunning when it is finished. Much better reading this than random magazine builds. Watching something take shape in stages to the finished product is always good.

Thanks, I too like the project threads, you get to see all the best bits without having to go through the stress of actually building it
On which note, its time for a very over due update on this, I havent given up The front running gear is all powder coated and mostly back together, the engine is painted and ready to be dropped back onto the sub frame. Also got a new walnut dash, a very rare Motor Tune rocker cover and a few other little bits, pics of these to come. For now, heres some of the running gear, just installed the cones and upper arms today, bit of a faf but Ive never done it before.

Oh, also bought a third Speedwell catalogue Got it for a steal at £20, now have the first 1963 edition, the 1964 edition and the "Fourth Edition" - dont know if there is one that sits between the 1964 edition and the "Fourth Edition", to make 4 all together?

Thanks guys! Russ, the shocks are perfect - will sit very nicely on the finished thing. Vinay, I will probably need luck, not looking forward to lifting the body back over the engine and subframe :S

Well, everyone in my house has gone to bed/passed out from Christmas Spirit so Ill update this
Bought the final Speedwell gauge, absolute bargain on ebay, NOS condition - offered £45 and they accepted straight away!

I will be changing the bezel for a chrome one, and will possibly change the glass too, as the other Speedwell gauges I have dont have the extra "limit needle" that you can manually set.
Also, after seeing these pictures in Elliskwleisk's rebuild thread, I have gone back to my original idea of gloss black wide steels/reverse rims, hopefully he dosnt mind me using them, they are simply stunning!

Another little update, more dash clocks! I came across this brand new old stock Heuer Monte Carlo mounted on the rarest of the rare mounting plates, a genuine Heuer triple plate, never seen one in the flesh before and I had to have it! Here it is:

Photo makes the chrome on the plate look terrible but it is stunning in person. I then mounted my existing Rallymaster duo on the plate with the new clock, I will look into having my existing black clocks chromed to match the NOS one on the plate, they are all brass underneath. Thrilled with it, they weight a tonne and are things of beauty IMO - should make a talking point at shows! Need to invest in a safe now...

And a quick mock up of the dash so far - the picture doesnt do it justice!

Awesome build and those black steels look amazing! Giving my ideas for my mayfair. If I sprayed my reverse rims black think they would look good against the black arches and webasto.

Thanks, its a slow build considering there no body work, but Ill get there eventually!
Yes I think your reverse rims would look great black - can I ask, what brake setup do you have, and are you running spacers at all? They look like they fill the arches nicely!
Im still undecided RE the wheels on mine - the black reverse rims look amazing, but Ive come accross a set of genuine 60's Mambas complete with original centre caps etc which I love also, I may end up flipping a coin!

Loving the dash and wheel combo. The radio just fits in with the theme so nicely.
