Honest mate its scrap, the noise sounds like its blowing out the back of the block from the head gasket, the smoke there is unburnt diesel smoke, they pop the gaskets out quite often when they run away (and it probably has due to the fact your original turbo was shot), could waste time pulling the head off, changing gaskets and valves, put it all back together again only for it to spin a crank or main bearing a month or so later,

If you really want it fixed, need to pull the engine out strip it, make sure none of the conrods are bent and the bores are ok, then new shells in the bottom end, new headgasket kit, new good used turbo (don't use a home rebuilt one it wont last) and put it all back together,

Sounds like the seller was less than honest tbf

(ps I break these and fix them for a living seen it all before)

Just watched ya video, totally wasting your time that engine is missing compression on one cylinder, you can hear it clearly when it starts on the starter motor!!, its fit for the bin nothing else, chances are the turbo has stuck its oil in the intake and its run at 10,000 rpm until it ran out of oil.... needs a engine simple as that.

Damn!

Wish i had heard that 2 weeks ago.

Bugger

Easy way to tell low compression, crank it over with the leccy plugs disconnected off the injectors and you will hear it clearly as a little Speed up bit on the starter, the difference between that and a healthy engine is clear if you listen to both

Your bad luck never ends, can't believe this mate. Terrible news. Could you make a few quid by breaking it and selling stuff on? But appreciate you may just want to take it to a large field with a box of matches.

In theory i could, The wheels are nice and have 2 brand new tyres, The leather interior is really nice with no damage at all, It looks new! There are loads of good bits on it but i just don't know if there would be a market for it here on the island and i don't fancy trying to arrange shipping of an interior etc.

I just feel like i have been kicked hard in the nuts. The bloke i got it off must have known, yet he lied through his teeth to my face saying that he didn't have time to fix it and that he needed it out of the way hence the low price.

I just really need to get the money back on it because it's borrowed.

There is a breakers yard nearby that is family run. The blokes son deals with the parts side of things and has bought cars from me in the past. He is very good. I'm going to give him a call in the morning and see what he can offer me.

Ben

You said that connecting and disconnecting the injector you replaced doesn't bring a fault light on the dash, but all the other ones do?

Can you trace those wires back and check for faults?

I have traced back as far as i can but no joy.

Adam seems to know exactly what has happened to it and that is that it has run away before i bought it and they must have just topped it back up with oil and sold it to me.

He says it's scrap so not much point mucking about with it now. I think it's not firing on that cylinder because there is no compression for what ever reason. Apparently you can hear it when you turn it over on the starter.

I'm gutted
