He's probably fed up of the silly notes and decided not to take notice of them at all now. I know I would if Fred over the road randomly left one to tell me to move it or whatever. I'd leave one back saying mind your own business. Clearly isn't going to move it anytime soon, not like you can do anything about it. Tough **** I say

Maybe he's hiding a body in the boot ... :shifty:. Or maybe he's got animals in it?

My hairdresser told me a story once about a rather well off client of his. She'd bought a brand new Rover 25. She also had Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs. Within a week, the dogs had destroyed the car - chewed up everything inside. So, she went back to Rover and just bought another 25 and let the dogs use the other one as a kennel/huge chew toy.

She was a bit mad too ....

This is shared land so we do have a say. If it was his land e.g. a driveway then obviously I wouldn't even mention it. The fact is this heap of junk is an eyesore, possible environmental health risk and is not being used for transport as intended. We want the space (1.5 spaces) so we're going to get rid of it whether he likes it or not...

If I owned 10 cars I could quite happily take up all the spaces with them, so no-one else could park, but I wouldn't because that would be unfair. This is similar but on a smaller scale. Yes I doubt very much he cares that he's taking up space but there are ways and means of getting your own way. I just wondered whether anyone here had any suggestions.

Sounds interesting!

I don't think there are animals in this one but there are a few rubbish bags.

Immediately I'd want to find out what was in them ..

so we're going to get rid of it whether he likes it or not...

That's a pretty bad attitude to have, ask the guy to move it (as you have been doing) etc etc, even offer to buy it off him but just doing what you want makes you look like the bad guys.

Obviously he has the same rights to the space as everyone else?

Go down the proper route of getting it removed, don't just do it

I'm planning on going down the proper route. Just there are ways of quickening up the process when people are selfish and unco-operative. I'm not the bad guy here.

I'd probably be a bit peeved off if Iw as you...what I said is probably how he is thinking

Try leaving your number or house number on the car instead of a scrappy's number...then its more personal and he might ask you what all the fuss is about and then you can tell him :D

I have a 4 car drive...well my parents do...I have took up 2 spaces with my 3cars/heaps

My family are not pleased but still...they have to deal with it cause they are my family :P

I understand this hassle after years of shared parking at Uni. It can be a complete nightmare (when we looked at our house I was more concerned by the width of the drive, the garage and the parking nearby than the house). There are legal ways to get it sorted. And I don't think its unreasonable to expect a car park to be used in the way you wish. If the guy had explained that it was his late grannies car that she loved and had sprinkled the ashes of her favourite cat in then it might be different but it does sound like the guy isn't much of a people person and that's being kind.

Surely, if you have a freehold which is shared owned by the residents, then you also have some form of committee which deals with the maintenance of that freehold space,

At present, if the person who owns the vehicle is a part freehold owner and there is nothing in the deeds which precludes them for 'storing' a vehicle in the parking spaces, moving it or disposing of it without their consent will get you in all sorts of bother...

Yes we do have a committee but it hasn't met for ages. I need to bring it up as the car park is for parking cars which get used occasionally I'm sure!

The parking problem is just getting worse as there seem to be more and more cars about, and bigger ones which mean people can't put them in their garages (or are just too lazy to do so). Not everyone has minis :(

Solution:

Call a meeting and suggest everyone buys minis.
