Next (after a little break) will be the side panels from A panels to rear quarter seam including the door frames.

More to come soon ..............

Thanks - enjoyed that, if the rest ends up looking as good as the front you will have a nice wee car there! It is a credit to you.

Just had a really good read through this and you got done skills, loving the repairs you have done so far and like the fact you saved the bonnet on Molly instead iof just replacing the bonnet, nice one panel gaps look wicked on it as well :) roll on Felix now :)

Thanks very much. I've still got lots to do on Molly before starting back on Felix but as long as the weather stays warm I'll keep spraying.

So I've started on Molly's offside paintwork. I had to do a little surgery to sort some corrosion in the quarter-light / top rail panel first though.

Cut out the nasty's.

FEA312C4-CA30-4F3E-88BD-EF5FA53D4BA4.jpg

Fabricated a new section. This was a bit tricky but I managed to get a fairly close match I think.

9922AB32-EA6B-46BC-B9F4-D02FBADD9E7C.jpg

Then shaped and dry fitted it into the rail.

34B78BE3-6383-49EC-8D65-EBEB173F13CF.jpg

And welded it in.

B48C3BDE-1C39-4A11-A2B7-B088224395C9_1.j

It ended up sat low on the inside which was caused by some minor distortion from the welding, but a light skim of filler sorted that.

So not too bad really. I just need to 240 wet & dry the panels now, prep them and get ready for some epoxy primer.

Thanks for reading. I'll post up more progress once I'm in primer mode

Please leave a comment or ask a question. It really does make a difference ;D

I hope you don't take this as a negative but would it not have been worth sorting the other rust in that seam between the quarter panel and waist rail before painting?

I just don't want to see all of your hard work ruined by more rust breaking out soon...

I love the repair section though :-)

Ben

Its not too bad & can be locally treated & sealed Ben. Its a rolling resto so its difficult to get to all areas.

Thanks for your comments. Looking forward to seeing more activity on your 25 too :)

I've been prepping the panels for primer this last week and got her ready for spraying.

It all turned out pretty good except for some sagging to the A panel due to me laying the epoxy on a bit thick, but it's not a problem as I'll just flat it back and re-spray it tomorrow.

I also cut and polished the bonnet which turned out nice, although I did take the front nose through to the primer a little so had to spot touch up which left some overspray to deal with.

I used some G3 and finished with G10 followed by swirl remover to get a good invisible repair. Shh, don't tell anyone ;D

So the bonnets looking great. I've still got to cut and polish the rest of the front end but I really enjoy doing this stuff so it's not a problem, rather a labour of love.

I'll post up some more photos once I've got some colour on. Thanks for looking ;D

It's been in the upper 20's today which is great as I planned to topcoat Molly's drivers side.
Started by getting the necessary out.

EBE5CB03-C8D8-4370-A534-279CA26EC20F.jpg

and got the car masked off and prepped for spraying.

51E1FA6D-E457-4B8E-ACA3-402A74AA45B2.jpg

All finished with seven good coats. Flash off time between coats was about 30 seconds to one minute due to the high temperature, which was great and reduced the risk of runs. I wish it was always this warm when I sprayed.

E8930940-1105-44BF-A81D-765E322631C8.jpg

Masking removed and looking good with no serious defects, thank goodness.

1A4E9753-E76A-47C7-884F-A3A57F7017B2.jpg

Got the top rail done too and it turned out well after the minor filling.

AD013ADF-14B0-497C-8F8C-0D3CCC8E90EC.jpg

The finish from the gun was fairly good and should only require minor flatting / cutting before polishing, but that'll be in two months to give time for the solvent to evaporate.

CA34BADD-F631-4F43-B622-95BF1BB25143.jpg

The browny orange is slowly becoming less as I work around the car. Nearside is next, then the rear panel, roof then the doors and boot lid.

38764393-099A-471E-BBE3-62AF4723F6EA.jpg

That's all for now, thanks for looking in.
