I am going to say Mercedes 190E

Good ones are going for strong money at the moment.

I have had three and sold my last one for £1300 in 2009. It was in perfect condition and ones in similar condition are going for up to 4k now!

I always regretted selling my last one.

I had a 2.6 manual too which was a very very good car. try finding one now. Most of the 2.6's left are auto's and after driving both, the manual is far better.

I will have another one some day, it was one of the best cars i have owned and i can only see them getting rarer and more valuable

The e36 m3 are already increasing in value and righty so what a car.
The coupe e36 s are increasing to as there being used for racing

Yup. They're a surefire investment if you can find low mileage. Hell of a chassis, great engine, no wonder so many are being used on the track.

talking to a bloke last year had just bought a 3.2 e36 some kind of ltd edition 1200 miles from new never seen the rain like a new car he gave £29000 for it.

Probably an Alpina one?

I know I saw an E36 M3 up near your neck of the woods on ebay a while ago (maybe a month or two ago).  It had the usual E36 crusty front arches (none of them are as bad as the E48 ones though).  It had about 70,000 on the clock but interior was filthy, really bad ebay advert and it only ended up at about £1500.  To me, that's a hell of a car for £1500!

Integra Type R.

They rot a bit, they're genuinely a GREAT FWD car.  Yeah, a little chavvy to some, but they're a cracking setup.

Definitely the MX5 - already see them at classic car shows and they're still in production.

Very little, if anything post 2000 that is mass production. The main issue is the increasing use of electronics which will cause cars to scrapped for even tiny problems. A guy where I work has a Cougar (not kuga) and had to pay £200 for a scrapper just to get an ABS sensor off it. My mates other half has a peugeot convertible that has so many electrical niggles it's scary. That combined with constant updates that are not interchangeable will make the situations even worse.Compare that to the mini where the engines were very similar over forty years of production. The only cars that people will care about are the unusual and sporty ones but they will tend to suffer even more as they are more heavily loaded with elastic trickery. Cars have become disposable which further affects the chances of survival as every car goes through a banger phase. I remember a neighbour of mine when I was a kid buying an e type for £300 and my dad thought he was crackers.

Most of the cars mentioned are already modern classics in my eye as most of them are 20-25 years old already.

I think a modern car which could become a classic would be a Mazda RX8, pretty cheap these days, expensive to run though.

Is that the rotary engine?
