something to read -

they seem to torque 45 oiled stud & 50 dry - no higher

 

I torque to 45 - (studs are oiled) & check after 1 heat cycle 45 Lbf

 

when I recheck , I don't slacked the bolt & re torque - I only check that the nut is at the set torque

 

only problem I get is slight weep on copper gaskets -

so I usually run engine dry , for first few mins to cure varnish on gasket - how I was taught to do it
