Renaultsport Clio 197
Soon to be a BMW 320d M Sport
Go for the 330D, if your going for a diesel. Much smoother, sound nicer, still gets good MPG, and fairly quick. I would also consider removing/ blanking off the EGR system, and a stage 1 remap.
What body shape are you going for, E90?

I have a rubbish 06 Focus 1.8 . I dont even know what engine it is due to there wierd badging -its says its a duratec but im thinking zetec . It rubbish anyway , pinks and rattles on anything less than superunleaded , uses loads of fuel , its as low geared as old golf gti's ive had . Not particualry good at any specific job .
Really cant stand it but im stuck with it for the future due to being skint . Really need a diesel .

I love my E90 BMW 320D as an all round great car to drive as do most magazine road tests, however....
Used diesel cars will be cheaper soon.......after years of governments encouraging diesel cars with tax incentives they have suddennly realised that the lower CO2 emissions comes with greatly increased pollution of the air in cities. Expect also to see EU scrappage schemes for diesels soon to clean up London and Paris.......

Well for me its an '04 Volvo V50. Its a 2.0l diesel estate and I love it. Heated leathers and HID headlamps are my fav bits.
But at 19 I get some odd looks - who cares, I don't.
Got 61.3mpg over a tank and a half to bingley.
It eats my 30 mile daily commute and is cheap to insure too..

Thats very dependant on whether petrol cars can actually catch up with diesel cars in terms of real world economy, especially with the new EU economy tests coming in. Really I dont know anyone that considers the particulate emissions and NOx levels when buying a car, which is the main issue for governments over CO2 emissions now. People often consider economy and VED. Both of which are often (not always) better with a diesel, especially as you tend get more ponies and torque to go with your cheap road tax and good economy!
I myself have no problem driving either. My concern is more around the expensive bills that come with a modern diesel once it reaches a higher mileage. Injectors, pumps, flywheels, turbos, EGRs, and DPFs being the main culprits. Theyre all expensive to replace and can often write a modern diesel off because of the sheer cost. A flywheel alone for my Mondeo is over £1000 fitted by Ford!

Governments can make it difficult or expensive to choose diesel cars though........already some councils are charging more for diesel parking permits and considering banning or charging more for diesel cars to enter cities like London to meet European air quality standards.
"From 1 April 2015 Islington council is introducing a £96 annual (equivalent of £1.85 a week) surcharge on resident permits for diesel vehicles to protect residents from the health risks associated with diesel emissions."
http://www.islington...-surcharge.aspx
My BMW 320D with full service history but out of warranty needed a reconditioned turbo at 60,000 miles which was £900 fitted by an independent garage......not an uncommon problem when you search the car forums.

Anymore photos of the stag?
Cheers, will get some soon, it's off for a new hood and frame first, and needs some tidying....I won't ever complain about mini spares, the "snag" could do with new bumpers...best part of £1800! . Second hand it is!
Jay.

Lovin that. My Audi A6 isn't as pretty, but is a great load lugger, tow car and motorway cruiser. And has done its fair share of ring laps.Mines a 530d sport, with a manual gearbox. I've owned it for quite a few years now and it's a great all rounder. It's practical, quick, comfortable, can tow 2000kgs and is great on fuel. Handles well for a big bus too.
