2005 Bora TDi Highline 130 - cheaper to buy and insure than the equivalent Golf yet has all the toys. Pulls like a train yet gives 50+mpg. Heated leather seats are lovely in this weather ;D and being a boring looking saloon, a) nobody gives it a second glance and b) no-one wants to steal it!

By the way - it's currently a LOT dirtier than the photo...

Good old pd130 engine! Exactly the same in my Fabia vRS.
I'm currently averaging 55 mpg and that's with the occasional 30 to 70 in 3rd

My dad had a couple of Boras, the 130 and 150 tdi, awesome value now! Was alot more reliable (and cheaper to run) than the A4 that replaced it!

Look even better with the rear doors welded up to create a two door :D  :gimme:

I'm currently 3 weeks into not using my 1275 GT.

This is what eventually tempted me away.

2005 Audi A3.

Everyone assumes it's a 2.0tdi.
They never suspect the 3.2 Quattro monster until it's disappeared into the distance.
😃
It's worse on petrol than the mini though....

Anymore photos of the stag?

Cheers, will get some soon, it's off for a new hood and frame first, and needs some tidying....I won't ever complain about mini spares, the "snag" could do with new bumpers...best part of £1800! . Second hand it is!

Jay.

I had a stag before my TR6, really liked it but everything seemed to be priced in lots of £300, seat cover £300 each side, foams £300 a set, hood £900 plus £300 fitting

had the dreaded HGF too!!  couldn't get the head off and had to buy used engine for - £1200!, cost another £300 to fit with the bits you may as well change at the same time

nice though, the TR6 seems more brutal though and I really like that

I have always wondered why anyone would buy the S3 2.0T when they could buy this instead!

What is the difference? the A3 has a 3.2 VR6, 250hp, quattro (haldex), the S3 a 2.0 Tfsi, 265 hp, quattro (haldex). Suspension wise if you went for the right options on the A3, then it must be pretty comparable to the S3?

I'd like to think they're in around the same ball park. The S3 is the more potent package though, and cheaper to Run..

It's an argument that used to rage on VAG forums with s3 vs golf R32 the 2.0T setup is lighter (less nose heavy) which is better for handling and it's alot more susceptible to tuning. (unless you turbo the vr6, but that's a whole different story) But I do think the 3.2 has one big advantage, THE NOISE!

All depends what floats your boat.

The Mazda loves a bit of 30-100 in 4th.

The Mrs used to have an ibiza FR, it was an amazing car, but at 50k it was struggling with its hard life

I have the 2.0tfsi engine in my a4 Quattro, with a BSR "reflash" tune, circa 260bhp. So I can imagine how quick the s3 is. I get 29mpg so I feel your pain with the running costs.

My two dailies.
VW T4 2.4d from 1992 also runs on veg oil.

Then a 2007 Suzuki Swift Sport.

Both are used each week but it just depends on the plans for the day.
