my rev counter shows double revs ie on tick over 2000 rpm its a triple clock set magnolia dials the car is k reg 92 . I did get a response quite sometime ago on this issue but couldn't contact the poster in time any response on this would be grateful as its driving me mad also any west country mini guys out there somerset area im trying to think of a decent run out in our cars in the coming months as there are a few of us in the taunton area looking for a drive out many thanks in advance

That's because your trying to use an mpi rev counter on a earlier single coil ignition system it wasn't designed for and hence reads double the actual revs.

as above; the mpi uses a wasted spark system so the rev gauge reads double

Would it do the same when using megajolt? Read double?

I believe megajolt would also be wasted spark, so the mpi gauge should work fine, not done it though, just in theory it should be fine

Yes your right the megajolt is a wasted spark. I've got a nos set of mpi magnolia clocks. I didn't want to have to break them to be able to use them out of an mpi. So I will use tem with my megajolt on the supercharged mini I'm building :D

I would assume the purchase of SPi gauges would sort this.....
