Very inventive! A bit of paint to stop the hole edges rusting and a suitably sized grommet and you are sorted.

the bolts in the AP new parts had bolts with some red thread lock on or so I presumed it was thread lock.............anyway it happened and I have a new MED built up set up coming in the post.........

While researching 7 port heads I came across this:- http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4aebb40f65 Does anyone know if it would be possible to fit this kit to a 74 GT?

SC will do the injection system and bodies for the american head, somones just being sneaky.
That didn't look like the SC head or are they now using the U.S. Style casting?

If it is anything like my last strip down, the bolts had stretched and bent and subsequently my fully worked crank had bent on the centre journal, all main bearings showed signs of uneven wear, presumably from where the crank had been flexing. Obviously it's now a nice lightened and balance door stop. Lol
I also had problems with flywheel fretting, and fretting between the clutch hub and spring plate (went through several hubs). If you have the same fretting problems again (or even before) it's worth checking the centre cap bolts are still tight and replace them with the proper grade. It save a lot of money in the long run!
The enging only ran for 20 mins first run wothout a problem but the 2nd time was just 2 mins after I heard the knocking noise.....so I do not think I have damaged the new mains and big end bearings,,,,,
