after taking most of the afternoon to read this thread, all i can say is wow!!!! top job dog, i have seen your motor around hereford before you started the rebuild, and it did look good, it just shows what filler can do

But yeh the Motor, was bodged, drove like a bag of poo, sounded like a bag of poo with an added screaming cat, and up close looked like poo...

All in All, I lost faith in it, like I said, once I poked the first bit of rust... it became a resto...

I've also decieded on an engine too!
For now I am going rebuild my enigne, stick a different cam into it, to make it a little different to a stock motor, stick a decent S/h head onto it, and leave it at that.

When the Mini "shell" is done, and its up and running again, I am going to build myself a reliable 7 porter This when done will replace my Nissan

so you have finaly "decided" on the engine? well i believe about the current engnein but i think yourl change ur mind about the 7 port...slowly start adding bits to it and presto....its a big build

The 7 port is my next big build, rather than doing another Mini, I'm going to build an engine so I can replace the Nissan. I've pretty much settled what i want from the 7 port... just not sure where to get it from, and where to get it machined...

But so far the spec is;

7 port head, tweaked by Morspeed (if he'll do it for me)
1380 offset bored block
a proper sorted injection sustem (megasquirt or better)
SC gearing all round (unless I can find a decent helical set)
Grey Clutch kit
cam - still deciding...

aboulsly it may alter slightly, but let me get the Mini finished before I start thinking about the engine lol


For now, its a slightly tweaked 1275

Well xmas is here at last

Means I can get on with doing some more jobs on the mini, as now i have more light to play with...


all i need to do is get the front subby striped and painted, another few coats of paint on the bulkhead, and then i can fit the subby again, then i'll start on the inside... i have also temparlly booked it in for paint too... march is the date, but that can be moved forward or back, depends how fast i work....
