Afternoon all,

 

I am about to embark on checking the timing on my bog standard 998cc(carb) 1990 auto engine.  I have the owners handbook which states the timing settings as:

 

Engine prefix No:

 

99HE20 - High Compression: 10° + 0° - 2° BTDC @1500 rpm

99HE22 - Low Compression: 8° BTDC at 1000 rpm

 

Nice clear information, or it was until I looked at my engine number - 99HE21 - smack bang in the middle of the two!!

 

Which one am I / how can I tell - High or Low compression.

 

As always, any advice would be much appreciated.

Having searched the internet since Sunday with not much success I have managed to find the answer at Somerford Mini within an hour of posting this topic (sods law eh...)!  I've posted the info here should anyone else reading this topic find it useful  They have an excellent section here:

So it would seem I have a 998cc, unleaded, high compression engine - 10° at 1500 rpm it is then
