I think you should start thinking about your question, best for what application?

AC

Sorry you have lost me ? best for what application ? If you are asking what the car/engine will be used for as mentioned above i am after a toy for road use only (something that will fly down country roads and handle like sh*t on a blanket lol).

I had a 1380 highly modified mini when i was 18 and have not forgotten the smile it put on my face ever since  :D oh how i miss that little car ...silver with a gloss black roof and gloss black revo`s !

Ok How long do you want it to last between rebuilds?

What idle qualities are you looking for?

What power band?

Wghat rev range do you drive in?

Obviously i would rather not want to be rebuilding the engine on a regular basis £££ so would like to take it to a point of reliability yet still offering good performance (if that is possible)?

Rough running on idle is what my old mini mentioned above used to do so as long as its drivable that`s not such an issue for me.

I would like to concentrate on acceleration over top end but a compromise between the 2 would be ideal , i tend to drive in the higher rev range .

Cheers Chris

I would suggest a maximum of 270 period cam, a nice gas flowed cylinder head, stock rockers and light flywheel. Use a 3.44 FD. You can use single or twin carbs. I always like a bigger engine for road work, 1330 works well. Use no higher than 10:1 CR and 98Ron fuel.

The best thing to do, is use a complete donor engine and have that built by a reputable firm to an agreed spec. It won't be cheap, but it will do what you need.
Do not buy bits from here there and everywhere before you have enlisted your builder.

Cheers AC ,

I already have an untested 1275 A+ complete engine and box in good order sitting on the bench (smaller valve head type), will this be suitable to use ? All i was going to buy for it was the same head but the larger inlet valve type and give the whole thing to an engineering company to work with.  I purchased the lump still fitted in a front sub complete with everything still attached removed from a written off mini some 6 years ago ! (even had 7.5" disks and calipers attached, touch)

I know my current head is unable to have larger valves fitted as this will stop it being converted to unleaded .

Any good performance engineering firms you know of in the East London/Essex area ?

Chris

No the smaller valve head is easily converted as part of the porting process. Contact MLMotorport in Higham Kent, 01474 825123 for engine builds.
