I managed to get most of the inner sill repair panel welded in over the weekend. Just like the other side, it didn't quite meet up with the original were the front foot well is.

Inner Sill Stiffner welded up.

Penetration of the weld above. It looks ok to me.

I just have to finish welding up the front and the rear bins. Hopefully I'll get chance to do it next weekend.

All looking great there :) maybe try a higher welder power and possibly a slower wire speed for flatter welds mate. Yours still will be strong but trying that may make knocking the tops off the weld With a flap disk a bit swifter

Keep it up!

Cranking up the amps seems to have done the trick.

It's all ground back and primed now but didn't take a picture.

There's just the front flitch to sort out before its ready for the outer sill.

The only question is do I replace the doorstep before the outer sill is put on or after? I was thinking it would be best to use the current doorstep to line up the outer sill before I cut it off.

I've not updated this in a while but have been making steady progress.

Nearside outer sill fitted

Patching a hole in the floor.

The other side with some primer

The boot all primed and she's now ready to be dropped down off of the spit.

Now to work on the shock absorber mounts. It doesn't look good from the outside...
Attached File  WP_20160522_13_53_23_Pro.jpg   67.72K   2 downloads

And behind the bracket...
Attached File  WP_20160522_13_53_33_Pro.jpg   76.58K   5 downloads

It was like this on both sides is they were both trimmed back and cleaned up...

After doing this side first I realised it was going to be difficult to cut the inner wing repair panel to fit, so the n/s was cut squarely around the bulge.

Repaired...
Attached File  WP_20160705_17_25_41_Pro.jpg   68.11K   4 downloads

After this I tacked on the inner wings and clamped the front-end on roughly. Looks like I have some work to do as nothing lines up.

Scuttle to front wing gap...

Front panel to wing gap...

I'm a bit unsure as to how to line these up at the minute, so I've abandoned for the time being and have begun work on skinning the doors. I removed the original skins a while ago so they just needs sorting out and the new skins putting on. So far I've got the frames sorted out ready for the skins to be put on.

I started with this...
Attached File  WP_20160717_13_02_28_Pro.jpg   90.24K   5 downloads

And after a few hours of cutting, welding and grinding , I now have this...

The view from the other side...
Attached File  WP_20160717_17_35_15_Pro.jpg   55.94K   9 downloads

That's all for now. The other door is in primer and this oen just needs some rust treatment and paint before the skin is applied.

Use a bit of brute force to sort the gaps with the front panels out. Are the heritage or pattern parts ?

heritage wings and pattern front panel.

I think my plan is to sort the doors out and then use the doors to line up the a-panels which I hope gives me a good panel to then line up the wings. I've already bolted the front panel to the sub frame so not much movement on that.

It looks like there is no way that they can line up at the moment but I'm hoping that it will just take some brute force

I have done exactly the same with the same panels literally had to fire the wings into place and the get the front panel to line up as best as possible

Painted the inside of both doors. Hopefully it will last a while longer.

Plug welded the two bottom corners and ground back. There's also seam welds down the two sides at the top but didn't take a picture.

First door on the car. I think the gaps look pretty good.
Attached File  WP_20160806_16_42_02_Pro.jpg   55.57K   5 downloadsAttached File  WP_20160806_16_42_33_Pro.jpg   50.33K   4 downloadsAttached File  WP_20160806_16_41_56_Pro.jpg   50.18K   5 downloads

The only bit that looks a bit off is the gap at the front of the door seems to be a bit tight but I need to look at it again with the a panel on.

It's been a while since the last update on this one, but 6 years later it's about to be moved into the garage ready for work to begin again.Attached File  PXL_20220821_122433448.jpg   106.1K   0 downloads
