Hi Guys,

Please can you help, I've had one of those days on my 79 Mk4 restoration. one step forward two back.

I have been trying reconnect the existing wiring instead of buying a new loom. I managed to get the hazards working but not the indicators. I'be been told the flasher relay is located behind the speedo, but I can for the life of me find it or any spare wires that could be going there.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

What colour are the wires going the the indicator relay?

would they be coming from the hazard relay?

Also does anyone know what the top relay is in the first picture?

One is the Hazard Flasher Unit and the wires going to it are as in the diagram below with the Idicator flasher unit, the hazard unit is marked 4x21w and the indicator is marked 2x21w.

Some one decided the wiring would look better all red lol

You need to have a look at the connections on the voltage regulator pic 3 component top left, New lucars and possible new regulator and in pic 3/4 those blue scotch lock connectors need replacing they a the number ,1 source of trouble on small gauge wiring
