Made it to the cars and coffee this morning, only a couple of miles from home but ended up doing about 30 miles. All good so far. Favourite car of the day was the Trabant

R kids Cooper, the Trabant, a mystery Italian Job, haven't a clue who was in it and the GT enjoying the Manchester sunshine

Already need to fix the wipers mate. I'm going to raise the hi los a little as it's settled loads. Still need to put sill and arch covers, seam strips and the GT stripes on, so still plenty to do

Not a lot done on the GT, fitted a new earth strap and cut off thingy me bob

I went for one last blast round the leafy lanes of Cheshire before the inevitable lockdown on Sunday evening, closely followed by R Kid in his Cooper, a great way to spend the evening

So, the car is running well with about 185 miles on the engine, possibly won't get out in it for a while now seeing as Boris has labelled me a key worker.

Stay Safe kids!!!

My Minispares order finally came this week, just some crank case breather pipes and Y piece, and a couple of oil filters, one for me and one for R Kid

PIgqyvF.jpg

I no longer stink after a drive of the GT

I also had the clocks out to repair the left indicator bulb, kept on driving with the indicator still on. They were absolutely mingin, I obviously didn't bother cleaning them before they were put back in

ZlW6GC9.jpg

Made sure all the fixings were tight this time so that's sorted the annoying rattles from the dash

Took a plug out and looks like it was running a bit lean so adjusted the carb, I'll take it for a blast down the bypass then check it again. It ticks over better now.

Really need to get it to minisport for a rolling road but they aren't doing them while the covid19 is still around,

Stay Safe everyone

Getting jealous of all the people getting loads done to their cars during lockdown lol, some of us still need to work don't you know haha

So today before work i squidged some tiger seal on the top lip of the sill and arch seams, i thought it would give a bit of extra protection for when i put the sill and arch trims on. Then i put the front seam trims on I had painted

Can't put the rear ones on yet, I want the bumper off before I do them

And Holy Crap! has a new friend

Getting the odd hour in the garage over the last couple of weeks, I got the rear seam trims on, not sure if the ones I got were actually meant for a mini, but got there in the end

While the bumper was off fitting the trims I removed the boot lid and finally fitted the seal, what a pain in the arse fitting the seal with those fiddly little clips

TUNlFQM.jpg

Then using Velcro squares fitted the bootlid carpet trim

Yesterday I fitted a BBW needle to the HIF44, on the recommendation of the engine builder, and using a Colourtune set the air/fuel mixture

XHWiR5T.jpglnnAS1H.jpg

Well what can I say, it pulls like train and puts a big smile on my face

Not really done much since the last post. I took it to a mate who has a garage to get the timing set, but that ended up causing me a whole heap of trouble, backfiring back through the carb and running crap. I turns out you can't set the timing the old fashioned way of twisting the dizzy if you're running a CSI Ignition system. I've now reset it to how Tony first set it up and its running great again, with the BDL needle re fitted. I'll try the BBW again when I can get it rolling roaded at minisport, when they re open the rolling road

Anyway I've had a few drives out, a couple of pics at some of my favourite places

The Scotch Piper near Liverpool for classic car night, and we all love a Krispey Kreme don't we?

I got some trims on my rear bins and rear seat base

And i really fancy a set of these from Huddersfield mini spares

Hopefully i can get back to the Scotch Piper on Monday for classic car night, weather pending of course
