these are single piece and fitting the tyres is a right pain in the back

Nice one, they're made by the same company. I'm pretty certain they have made in Italy stamped on them

Have you got some information (a link or so) on the manufacturer?

And yes I am pretty sure they Italian made.

I don't know much about them to be honest, they came with the car. They're definitely Italian, there's a date stamped on them, 1981, can't remember the month. I think they're cool, a bit different from the norm

Picked up these Alpha Romeo seats this morning, as my original deckchair seats are breaking my back if I do more than 30 miles

Does anyone know how to remove the drivers arm rest before I get heavy handed with it lol

They are super comfy and looking forward to doing some miles in them

Just read the whole thing Jimmy (totally didn't use some work time, honest  ;D ) and I have to say, what a fantastic job. Really makes me miss my old GT, which remains the only car I wish I'd never sold. Love it.

Thanks for the compliment mate. I know what you mean, I still regret selling my Cooper in 2000

Today me and R Kid took our cars over the border into Wales to AB Garage for a session on the rolling road. It did feel for a minute or two like the dukes of hazard, where "Those Crazy Duke Boys!!" were trying to cross the county line before Boss Hogg caught them, but then remembered we are still allowed into Wales until 6pm tomorrow

Anyway, Aidie did a cracking Job setting the car up, was running a bit lean and the timing was well off. 76bhp is where the engine spec is meant to be so quite happy, would have been happier to get 80 lol

A9DsKny.jpg

R kids Cooper, aka Rocky, made 71bhp, a bit too close  for my comfort lol, thought I'd have way more than him

Next job is to weld the subframes for the Alfa seats up, I've already cut the 20mm box section to size, copying someone else's plans in the "what seats fit the classic mini" thread somewhere on here

Thanks for looking

The nice NHS app has informed me I have been in contact with someone with covid and have now got to isolate for 12 days. Balls!!!

So seeing as I've killed my welder I thought I'd get the polish and wax out, last time I polished a car was my Cooper back in 98. So armed with a "perfect polish applicator" from autoglym I polished it first with Mer, then finishing wax from Farecla, no machine polishing for Jimmy, oh no.

VjlWt0Y.jpgXwhqyJd.jpg

Quite pleased with it, though it could probably do with a machine polish really

I've also started cleaning up the alfa leather seats, figured it's easier with them out of the car. Can't fit them till I can get hold of a welder to finish welding my subframes

It became apparent that the frames I knocked up for my alfa seats aren't going to work, they make the seating position too high

yelRb7G.jpg

The seating position was too high so I've took advice from the S.U.N.M.C and revised my plans, can't pick any steel up till Thursday because I'm having to isolate again.

So armed with the leather cleaning kit from Autoglym  i spent a couple of hours on the front seats only to, erm, make them look exactly  the same lol

They smell like DFS now though

I've been off this week, was meant to be heading to somewhere warm to celebrate my 50th a couple of weeks ago, best laid plans and all...

Anyway, the last couple of days Jimmy has been a busy old git, for my birthday I got a Retrosound DAB radio and speakers for the GT. I fitted the speakers and ran the cables to the front, fitted the under dash holder for the radio. Not fitted the radio yet because I'm waiting for a friend to check the old stereo wire to see if its a permanent or switched live, I'll need both anyway

SDBGFpR.jpg

Then got busy fettling the new frames I made for the alfa seats, much better this time round, although it's became apparent I'll need some black door cards now

qz0YJnG.jpg

I'll be taking the seats out again to paint the frames before final fitting. I took it for a blast round the bypass, pleased with the comfort and seating position

And the first wash of the year, not for me, but for the GT, I'm not due a bath till easter

Happy days, Holy Crap! has passed its Mot, doing a whopping 980 miles last year, not bad for a year of lockdown
