Hi there

I have a 1966 MK1 Super Deluxe fitted with what I now believe to be a 1275 A+ Metro block, as I have been working with the carburettor and ignition system. The engine has an electronic ignition (Metro distributor cap).

I am having trouble removing the SU carburettor (mounted on a Mini Sport inlet manifold) from its mounts because of the bulkhead. Is there a trick to removing the carburettor from its mount? Can someone advise?

Cheers

James

Try removing engine steady or steadies and tip engine slightly you may have to release exhaust clamp

I do the same, remove it together with the manifold. Sometimes the carb to manifold nuts have to be loosened in order to wiggle it all out

I was just doing this the other day. Take off the carb and manifold together, its easier. take off the 4 nuts that hold on the inlet manifold and center exhaust manifold and it should come right off.

If you still struggle then remove the manifold studs and that will allow you to lift it straight up rather than fighting the studs.
