Much better this week.  Skipped the pointless 'star' section and just watched the VT segments.  The TDF feature was just brilliant but with Chris Harris, that is to be expected.  Focus RS feature with Rory was also well executed (minus the kid driving bit which was a bit naff).  Put these two on instead of Evans and Le Blanc and its onto a winner!

I caught the second half last night, and I have to admit it was a great improvement- Probably because Evans was hardly in it... The RS/Civic/Merc segment was actually pretty good.

I'm still not sold though. Every scene with Evans still made me want to jump through a window, and Le Blanc still seems incredibly uncomfortable, theres still just no chemestry between him and Evans. The only time I've seen him acting even slightly convincingly was with Ken Block, but then again he's also an American, so it was bound to be more natural.

Still a long way to go before I would consider it as half decent.

I'e always hated Chris Evans, I'm honestly not just on the 'hate new Top Gear' bandwagon, I just can't stand him. He's a poser, knows nothing about maintaining or even driving the cars he owns, and just annoys the hell out of me in general with his mannerisms...  I went into it with a very open mind, I tried so hard to like it, but in all honesty it was an absolute pile of dog mess from the word go.... As soon as they started running and hi-5ing each other I literally face-palmed.

You could just tell they don't get on behind the scenes, and it was all forced for the camera. The problem with Matt is that he's an American trying to pull off (badly scripted) British humour, and that really doesn't work at all. Most of the time he just seems either ticked off or bored anyway.

Driving the Robins to Blackpool seemed utterly pointless, Towing them behind the Landy and Jeep seemed utterly pointless, strapping rockets to the Viper and Vette seemed utterly pointless, and as for the guest segment, at least before they would subtly mention what they were promoting in a relaxed manner during the interview. Now they stare creepily straight down the camera and spend half the interview telling you what they're promoting (referring to the one with Ramsy and the other guy who I forget).

I've never cringed so hard in one hour than I did while struggling through that first episode... No chance in Hell was I going to watch the second one. I think I'd rather sit and watch the washing machine go round for an hour. Bring on The Grand Tour I say!!!

And not to mention the digs at Clarkson! I mean fair enough, I was expecting a few, but they could have been much more clever and subtle with them, instead of just blatantly shouting out the obvious catering and bombshell related ones... I mean, It's like no imagination has going into the show at all, it's all just a poor imitation of what the other 3 originally made great. They could have started from scratch, which would have been slightly better, but it would still have been rubbish because the presenters are rubbish... Evans is a prick, Le Blanc has the charisma of a corpse, Sabine (while being a very talented driver) is just cringey to listen to, and the rest I have yet to witness, but to be honest, Chris Harris is the most hopeful one of the bunch, and even he is not suited to Top Gear in my opinion; he's too straight and serious, and not silly enough.

aaaaand breathe....

What happened to watching the washing machine go round......

This programme is getting better by the week .

I never did watch the second one. What's your point?... I heard things had improved massively, so watched some of the third to see for myself. I have already acknowledged that it's getting better, but as I said, I'm still not a fan.

+1 better.

Drop the ginger **** and let the others take turns.

Ferrari, block and focus pieces, all 'as good as' Clarkson Trio's efforts.

Give him his due, Le Blanc worked well in an 'odd' way with Block - that piece virtually indistinguishable from anything Clarkson & Co. have done - Just loved the "What does this button do?"

& yes, I also FFWd through the 'star' segment

So I gave it a few episodes to see how it faired. Well 2 1/2 actually. Turned off halfway through last night just as Leblanc was talking to the dead person (no personality) after the TDF bit. Elvis Presley had the right idea. If there was a TV programme on that he didn't like he shot the TV. Please BBC administer the last rites and put the programme out of its misery

I thought the ken block driving round London sight seeing a bit pointless, but then I so like a mini version of the hoonicorn with the noise, power and ability to bang through the gears.

I just cannot get into it. I never bothered with the second one, but having read on here that it was a slight improved I thought I'd give Sunday's a watch, I lasted 20 mins again till changing channel

Absolutely fantastic episode this week. If they'd open with this there wouldn't have been a single negative review.

Cracking guests too.

Much better, maybe they are responding to the fans. I guess the order of the VT isn't set.

Aren't they all recorded months ago???

I still can't get into it. To me it seems that the new presenters and most of the features are too far removed from 95% of the top gear audience and it can come across as a bit elitist. I'm not saying they should start driving about in Astras and Micras but it's all been a bit flashy humourless and 'country club' for me so far. Apart from Gingy Mcshouterson I actually quite like the presenters, and all the cars they've had on, but find I get bored watching ANOTHER super expensive car that I can't afford being hooned about in by someone with whom I can't really relate to or who's opinion I don't really care about. IMO Clarkson, Hammond and May were much more relatable as petrol heads.

I quite like Rory and Chris Harris, but don't think much of the others. It would be a shame to see the BBC cancel the whole show as I really would like to see more of those 2. Keeping the same style show with different presenters was always going to be a mistake though, you can't copy what those 3 did. I think the best way forwards would be to turn it into a sensible car show, bin the star in a car bit and just have Chris (Harris) and Rory. Theres far too much audience participation too, it should be 3 grumpy men having a go at each other while telling the audience to shut up everytime one of them voices an opinion. Chris Evans is just too chirpy and too lively for me, the bit where Jenson Button drove him round was the most entertaining thing I've seen Evans involved in so far.
