Update time!
Really trying to get it finished for the Himley hall show on the 7th may. Really close now so hopefully I'll be there.

Here we go.

Exhaust finished, happy with the clearance. Car will have to be raised slightly so should be plenty.



Covered the bottom dash rail.





Sorted seat mounts.







Covered rear seat area.



Carpet loosely thrown in.



Doors on.



And built up.


Dashboard coming together.









New gauge arrived.



Dash in. I made some small brackets and using the square cuts outs in the top metal rail and some wiper arm blanks, managed to make it secure.



Covered the rear board with some sound deadening and sprayed the perforated ally black. Really happy with the result.




Unfortunately I've had to send the centre gauge back as the fuel gauge wasn't programmed correctly. Constantly rear 1/4 of a tank.

Rare day out in the sun. Can't wait to be able to give him a clean.

Still debating on colour of cam cover.



Also decided on a change of colour for the wheels. These are in keeping with my original ideas.
They are gun metal grey with a chrome fleck to lighten the dish. Very happy with them!! Just need to get the tyres on and get them on the car.



So things left to do.

Fit front and rear screens.
Bolt on front end.
Build up front end. Lights grille etc.
Fit arches.
Fit bumpers and badges.
Fit bonnet.
Choose and Fit mirrors.
Fit harness bar and harnesses
Bolt seats in.
Final fit of dash once my gauge is back.
Fit new steering wheel.
Roughly set suspension.

And take him for the MOT!! Think it's doable. Not helping the fact that I'm currently on shut down at work which is 11 days straight of 12 hr shifts, on top of that my daily has failed MOT so trying to get the jobs done before the free re test is up! All good fun!

Tyres fitted and on. Very happy with them. Love the colour and has totally changed the look of the car.
Brakes bled tonight. Another few jobs off the list.

So this was my last big push to get ready for the himley show.

Front dash bar adapted to use as my harness bar.



Dash going in.



Rest of interior in.



Interior all finished. Very happy with it.



Front end built up.



And fitted.



Had the valve cover powdercoated cream/magnolia to match the stitching and gauges.

Arches also fitted.



Very happy with how it's looking.



Sadly Had to raise the suspension as was catching quite badly.



And at the MOT station the Friday before the show. Drew quite a crowd when it was in there.

Happy to say passed with flying colours. No advisories. Proper stoked!!!!



So plan was to do the finishing touches on the Saturday ready for the show.
Unfortunately when driving it, as I didn't give it any beans on way to MOT station. Found that it wouldn't rev past 3000 revs. Effectively in limp mode.
Couldn't fix it in time and didn't want to risk taking it to the show so sadly had to miss it!

Since then found I have a problem with the vtec solenoid. As I didn't have the cel light wired in before I didn't know any fault codes.
With the light now wired in the ping the code 21. Which is the vtec solenoid.
In the mean time though, took it out and revs right up to 6000!!!! And man does it go well!!! Can't wait to get the vtec working and give it some proper welly!!!!

So eventually found the root of my problems.
After a lot of investigating, but luckily didn't actually get to the point of buying different parts, ive managed to sort it.
Since my last post I had another light come on which was the crank sensor. Ended up stripping the dizzy to check sensors and wiring inside, traced all my existing wiring to double check it all. Whilst doing this, after resetting the ecu (removing battery earth) started the car up and no codes appeared. Then brushed past the jumper harness from ecu and the car bogged down and nearly cut out. So moved the wires again and same thing happened. Then it threw the code again!
Ended up being the connections in my jumper harness. The male pins were that slack in the females that even the slightest movement broke the connection.
Ended up stripping a handful out, metering them, crimping up the females to make them tighter on the pins and bobs ya uncle.

Took it out tonight, no codes, revs perfectly and even hits vtec.
It's mentally quick too!!! Far exceeded my expectations. Just need to get the geo properly set up now and put some miles on him.

What paint did you use on the engine? It's come out really well.

I used POR15 manifold paint on the engine grease monkey. Brushed on. Covered it very well.

Few more pics for ya, will try and get a decent video uploaded soon.



















Still not had the suspension set up yet. Had a few more issues to deal with such as the oil pump failing on me. So that was changed out for a genuine item.

I'll be attending the ukminis rolling road day this weekend so hopefully get to See what he's kicking out.

Little vid of one of my power runs on the uk minis rolling road day yesturday. Great day was had and very pleased with my results. Including the fact the car ran brilliantly.
1st run made 177.9 bhp which I'm stoked with.

Great build. Especially good to see that you solved the main problem with the KJB frame, which was the bent tie bars.

Is there a problem with the photobucket links? Can't see the pictures. Do you have any advice on the wiring? I'm almost done with my body work and now want to start with the wiring. Looking at a B16A2 or B18C like you did.

The links are fine it's photobucket that's caused the problem as there trying to make people pay for image sharing
