I think they use specially built cars now, with out-riggers that take the load off the wheels to simulate different surfaces. I seem to remember seeing a Metro version on eBay a while back.

Yep that's the kind of thing. The Metro I saw had the back end chopped off and had a dirty big pair of castors grafted on the back

I don't think we've got a skid pan over here any more.  They used to have one to train the bus drivers on (The IAM would use it too) but they obviously concentrate more on training bus drivers to be arrogant, awkward gits now!

What do the police use?
Good question Carlos. I *think* the Manx feds do all their training in Cheshire.

There are courses around ..

Thruxton do several but seem to use RWD cars (Toyota GT86) ... but they do have an "own car" option ... http://www.thruxtonr...es/skid-own-car

Castle Combe run some too http://drivetechltd.co.uk/skid-pan/

Another http://www.driverski...an-courses-c-3/

In fact there are courses all over the country ...

I've seen one that was the front half a Metro and the back end replaced with what looked kinda like an outboard motor with a wheel on it.

The thruxton one looks the best as it's the only one I can find that lets you take your own car.
