well audio wise i am in love with the JBL GTO4 series, so its either 15's or 12's and i will be sticking with JBL 2000Gto amps and i would like all my components to be JBL as i think they are great.

layout wise i would still want a very nice flowing fibreglass layout but i cant decide how much room i want to take up and the like.

Hum 4 subs or 2

Meh, where's the variety! I've heard the GT series subs are good value for money...but a one make install is kinda boring!

If you were going to go with JBL amps, you'd want at least a GTO1201.1 per pair of subs...and 4 x 15"s, ported :proud:

when i bought my subs the owner of the shop showed me his civic type R with 2 gto4 12's and he cranked it up half way and his car was moving forwards!!

4 15's will make my car fall apart at the seems!!!

You need to get to some shows and hear some REAL bass :proud:

2 x JBL 12"s is nothing...and a sub cannot move a car forwards :w00t: It's a few grams moving back and forwards

Not possible, sorry :w00t:

Get yourself along to a dBdrag event :w00t: One of the guys from TalkAudio should have his car rebuilt soon...4 x 18" subs pushing 156-157dB. It plays music LOUD and LOW :proud:

I think i must come to that maybe in 2 years time ill have my van there.

Now before you laugh, is 8 15's to much?

I am after some thing diffrent so any advice on subs? my mate has some square thing which is pretty mean but i cant remeber what it is for the life of me kicker or some thing?

If i had tv screens built into the layout would they smash or pop?

Also any chances of shattering glass? And if i was to be using 4 15s wouldnt i need to deaden the van like a mofo?

If you are interested in JBL GTi stuff, I've got a mate selling his install from his colt; 2 12" gti's w/ boxes, and a class d gti amp to run them; they hit 148 db i think he said, there's also a power cap to go with it, decent headunit, (also decent speakers, and an amp to run the speakers, i think)

He was asking around £600 for everything, if you're interested I could pass on your details to him... :proud:

8 x 15s definitely isn't too much if you like bass...however, you're probably only going to fit them in with sealed boxes. If you like sealed, that's no bad thing, but personally I'd go with 4 ported (also saves you some cash)

You're never going to smash any glass :proud: Some people have had issues with TV screens playing up, though I don't know anything about how to solve it myself

Deading is probably a good idea...it is a Mini :w00t:

Square sub = most probably Kicker. Meant to be good at being loud, but not sounding good.

yeh kicker thats the one!

Now the plans for getting the van has gone tits up i am looking for a van or pick up shell so if anyone can give me a hand in finding one then i will be a very happy chappy.

I absoloutly love bass and i think i will get 8 15's if i can fund it but then i would need 8 amps and so on so forth and i am not to well off at the moment haha.

You don't NEED 8 amps...you just need "enough" power at the right impedence :w00t:

If you do get 8 of those subs, you'll want around 4kw RMS in total. You could get 2 x 2kw RMS that are stable at 1ohm...there are a few of these around :proud:

That would have been me the other day :proud: Rich Wilson currently has the loudest car in the UK, just shy of 170dB. Single 18" sub, cabin made of MDF and steel, very thick windows

The loudest "normal" car (i.e. it still has seats, dash etc) is at about 165dB, 3 x 15" DD subs in a wall

The loudest street car (install only in the boot) is at 157dB ish. 2 x 15" DD subs...in a Mini!

There are a couple of cars - one in the US and one from Finland - that are very very close to 180dB

4 is probably going to be better, as you get a more even loading on the amp (1ohm as opposed to 1.33 ohm etc)
