zero progress on front end unfortunately....but was nice weather today so I thought I would tackle some grinding and painting!!
Sounds fun I know.
you know the drill....
wire wheel
After around 6 life times I was left with this
I put some acid in the gutters, they were pretty rust free to be honest. But what the hell, can't hurt!
And........ primed
also between coats I did this ( little touches like this mean everything OR is it nothing ? can't remember )

not had very much time to spend on the Mini
I have managed to seam seal the roof gutter, when I did this less really is more. I built the sealer up until it covered just the part I wanted to fill
also some body work stripping and painting

aye your not wrong there!
we take on these projects, but don't realise how much life can get in the way. I guess there's not a better reason than adding to the family though. Hope all goes well bud.

Looking good this, and impressive how you're doing it under a temporary structure.
I love how this is still titled 'Driving Restoration'.......it's exactly what my intentions were.
"Lets just have the front wings replaced and a bit of paint tidying up"...….. One bare metal restoration later..... bloody mini's!!

Looking really good, clearly a big amount of work. I'm only intending on doing the bare minimum to get mine back on the road but that still means a full front end. I havent fully stripped it down yet either so I may also end up in the same place as you.

I feel like the car is finally coming together now, there seams to be a light at the end of the tunnel...
or is it that my eyes are just permanently damaged from all the welding? either way **** is getting done.
behold. Progress!
I started with removing the car from the front part of the Jig, followed by refitting the front subframe so I could bolt the front panel to it.
after that I was left with this
I then fit the scuttle loosely and clamped the wings up using mole grips and self tapping screws
at first it seemed that even though I have got heritage panels the fit wasn't great
but with some little persuasion with MR HAMMER I got pretty good results
the bonnet gaps aren't great because I think the bonnet is a little twisted in places, but im hoping a can rectify this and just filler rod it when I do the door gaps.
and I did manage some welding swell
weld
grind and prime

Excellent work mate, definitely starting to come together. The front looks a really nice fit.
thanks bud, long way to go yet. Just looking forward to getting her painted I think. I started it a year ago this July, funny how fast time goes by with a project...
not sure if I got lucky, I was going to weld it all up yesterday because it seemed spot on. I have left it though until the weekend coming, I just really want to make sure im 100% happy
will be a nightmare if I weld then realise its not in the right place haha
