new arches

new bonnet hinges

i started fitting the new arches by applying some masking tape to mark up the holes for drilling

only manged to get three done

with the bonnet hinges fitted i could double check the bonnet gaps, which really don't need anything extreme to be honest

Looking for some help with the decision to buy stainless steel bumpers
Or go down the carbon painted route?

Also Im thinking about stone chipping my engine bay with tint able raptor and then top coat and lacquer like the underneath is....? Anyone done this before? Pros and cons?

Suggestions welcome lads

I’ve painted my engine bay in tintable raptor and looks fine I do wish I’d had put Lacquer on it thow to be honest, but then again when all the engines in on an mpi it’s busy anyway In there so 98 percent is covered, only reason I did raptor is is it’s better for rust prevention I’m led to believe, I’m tempted to do in the boot but abit of that Is more visible so not sure.

Thanks for reply bud, Has the finish stayed looking ok? I quite like the texture of raptor.
You are right about the mpi engine bay which is one of the reasons I’m thinking of using stone ship, added protection for very little negatives

The finish looks great really I set my compressor to 40psi I think it was and it’s given a lovely effect, well the little bit you can see anyway! I’m sure you can get a smoother finish with it by upping the pressure, but like you say you don’t really see it, i was the same as you wasn’t sure on normal flat paint or raptor in the end after looking how busy the engine bay was I thought raptor was the best option and it’s really hardy stuff, I’ve done the whole of the underneath of the car and the floor pans inside (just the bits you can’t see inside ) well impressed with it, and I’ve hit it with a spanner a few times and it doesn’t touch it at all.

Have an issue lads, fitting the passenger door today and have got the panel gaps where I want them. Problem I have is that when the door is on the latch it’s all good, but when I un latch it the door drops slightly - this does not mess with the door gaps on the a Panel but it throughs the rest out by a good 5mm or so

Any suggestions on what I can do?

When the door is unlatched can you feel any play in the door maybe something needs tighting or wear in the hinges?

Everything is tight. Hinges to door and hinges to A post

When unlatched I am able to lift the door on a pivot like not up and down level with the hinges more at an angle like a push in at the top and a pull out at the bottom (if that makes sense)
Would you say new hinges? They are pretty loose in the sense of opening and closing where my new hinges on the drivers door are stiff

Thanks for reply

I would say you need to put new pins in your existing hinges

You couldn't move the latch on the car down and the door up on the hinge post to try and even out the play? I sopose this might affect your nice gaps now.
Or maybe new pins as suggested above

Ahhh was a nice idea I did try this - even thought about drilling holes out in A post higher but like you say panel gaps and we all know it’s all about them panel gaps ;)
