that could be taken care of by low comp pistons or even a de-comp plate.

huh? straight over my head mate!

Edit

Oh i get you now your talking about heads, yeh deffinately need to be changed. i think it would be best to use a suitable head rather than trying to compensate with low compresion pistions

When fitting a turbo engine there are a lot of alterations which need to be made to the fueling of the eingne, there needs to be some rather extreme modifications made to the manifolds aswell unless you fancy paying out for a mirage unit which i cant afford to be fair.

I would ratherb uy a unit that was meant to be a turbo then playing around trying to make a turbo out of a 1275 engine, i can just see it swalloing my money up a lot more than starting with a turboed unit. I might not even get that one in the F/S section. theres a few local aswell.

its even more complicated than that, and would be even more costly, but lets not get into the details :shifty:

what kind of output you looking for, be it a turbo engine or not?

Just chance the engine and keep it registered as a 998 so the insurance will still be cheap,
chance the engine numbers around and evin if you crash it no one will notice.

Sean of course they will! Its been argued many of times on this forum and beleive me, they will! If a insurance company can get out of a claim they will!

I agree with minikid that insurance will do alot to try and not pay out in a claim, but i have known alot of people do this and when they have made a claim and had their cars checked they didnt realise a thing. So i dont think they will realise but i wouldnt do it.

Ive bought a MINT 1985 mayfair. got it for a steal from Minidave. I am planning on a turbo conversion in that but i just need to get all the parts collected first.

Sean.

I know its done often and i know many people who have done and are still doing it. But i dont want to put so much work into my car and then clonk it and get it Repoed and lose thousands! If i was to turbo it i would have to pay £1700 with every mod diclared on a 1380 turbo. I probably wont be driving the car at 17 as i will get my GSXR600 SRAD on the road first at only £600 TPFT so i think i will have that before the car is on the road so hopefully i will get my no claims down on my mums insurance with direct line and then go onto my car. I wouldnt drive a 1380 turbo at 17 anyway. a GSXR is MUCh more sensible :angle:

---------

I know A LOT of people do the 998-1275 conversions and the uinsurance company dont notice as i mean there are no obvious differances. but i think with a turbo there will be a few give aways.... Huge intercooler, turbo and modified manifolds, big shiney engine bay you know the usuals haha
