just out of interest.. why did you use a megasquirt ecu instead of an emerald?

as far as i know an emerald ecu uses the original connector and same loom.
its the route i intended on taking but i was wondering if theres something i missed and i should be going for a megasquirt too?

I am guessing it was down to cost!

Emerald is about £600
Megasquirt about £250 i think.

its a case of what can emerald do, that megasquirt cant?

Also, megasquirt being open source is constantly updating with new features and tricks. I also think that, in keeping with the whole "DIY" of the mini it makes sense to use an ecu which i can fully understand and not rely on a tuner. With an ever expanding community there is no lack of support for this neat little box of tricks either.

And for the prices....

Emerald = £600

Megasquirt (Pre-built) = £250

Megasquirt Componant Kit = £150 (if your good with electronics)

another reason i chose MS, was that having to figure out the rover loom was a waste of my time... 14-Wire printed label Megasquirt loom and splice that into a mini loom. Easy!!

There are 4 spare outputs which i believe can be programmed to do whatever you want. i know they do water injection and nitrous control. i think shift lights already done.

If you know what the Apexi Power FC is like, there is a little digital screen that can plug into MS and give live data readouts, and will let you adjust settings while driving without the need for a laptop. :w00t:

now thats interesting to know...

i have some big plans and hopefully with some luck i will have all the funds just after xmas.

may well have a car computer anyways.. but ive just been looking at the apexi rpm and speed meter on ebay. Looks interesting with what that can do...

ill have to do some major research into megasquirt. Providing its simple enough to setup then ill prob go that route then.
ill be watching this very closly dave :w00t:

When using the k-series frame you would have to have an extended front...
