nope...

the watsons frame and the 16vminishop are both doing them without needing an extended front
reason for the extended front is slight more room on the bulk head... *weber box will do the same*
but the oil filter and the alternator touch the front.

resolved by relocating alternator and using a remote oil filter housing.

Matt, your right.. but wrong.

The watsons frame which fits under and unmodified front is actually a K-series frame adapted to take the B/D series engines (Honda). Im extending the front as i'd prefer to have lots of space free rather than cram it right in. The rad i got is huge and my next mods might need space around the exhaust manifold :shifty:

Another thing i would do if i started this project again... cut the front crossmember off the K-series frame and make it 3-4" shorter :)

ahh okay...
so i am right in the sence it will fit without extending the front end..
just need a few bits and bobs to be moved around and it would be quite a squeeze.

but will it go in.. even though i have a more or less standard front end.. albeit less the inner wings

Standard K-series in an unmolested clubman = yes...

Standard K-series in an unmolested round-nose = no, unless its built like a tardis..

I believe matt is right in saying the 16v mini shop frame will fit in a standard round nose if you relocate the alternator and use a remote oil filter, also uses mini suspension

well i know im right.. i phoned them :shifty:

but wasnt sure about going in a standard front....

but with a normal subframe... you dont need to take the front off to get a mini subframe out?
so why any different with the k series?

are the k series engines not wider and require some "trimming" of the inner wings. would it also fit through the bonnet hole? could always lift the shell over the subframe though

well this is what im asking... as i dont have inner wings... my car was previously a flip front.. but its now had a normal front welded back on.
with some very nice paint over the top.. so im reluctant to pull it apart.

and i wouldnt mind taking off one subframe... and then lifting the body over the top of it.

I remember a while ago there was a mini van with a "lotus" engine, IIRC it was just the 1.8VVC metro engine, but i THINK that was in a standard front. Might be worth getting a back issue and having a look?

I think it was in miniworld, not 100% sure though.
