the steering boss (which lets you fit a custom steering wheels) that came on my car is wrong because when you do up to main bolt it pushes against the indicator auto switch off bit so I was hoping some one would know where I can get one that dose not do that

The Column has some adjustment in it.

If you slacken off the Clamp on it (the one near the dash), you'll get about 30 mm movement.

You'll probably need to drill the bolt head though as they are a 'security' shear head bolt.

There were differences in the self cancelling mechanism over the years.

Have a look at the mechanism and the bottom of the boss to see if they can be mated together. It may be the wheel just needs turning relative to the boss so different holes line up and allow the boss to align with the indicators when the wheel's the right way up.
