It has been a quiet month for the Mini but I did receive seat cutters this week and have started on the cylinder head.

This head was horribly rebuilt, it does have newish guides but they were not reamed after install.  Quite a few of the valves are way too tight the "restorer" must have knocked in the guides and left it without reaming or honing the guides.

Three Neway cutters are needed, about GBP250 to do a 3 angle job. These 3 cutters will work for most 25 mm to 36 mm valves and they are great value and easy to use. If anyone is interested I can post the Neway part numbers.

5 minutes hand lapping to finish off each seat.

I also installed doors and bonnets, I got the aluminum hinges with the car and will keep them but refurbish the originals in case they are too much bling.

Yesterday I finished the cylinder head and torqued it down. This weekend I hope to finish off the brake and fuel lines.

Another few months down the road. Waiting for the wheel arches and a few minor parts from the UK.

I still do not have seats for the car but was thinking about using two buckets and hope to find an original rear seat.

It came out of my 914 and it must be a VW engine, right?  ;D

Just hit a bump in the project, my fenders were cut before I got the car, the only arches that seem to fit are a set of wide arches I got with the car.  I dont want to run 13", already have new 10" minilites and yoko's.

I cant figure out what arch kits that fit, any recommendations or links to 2 inch(-ish) arches that fit classic Mini MK2 with fenders cur for 13"?

Its been a pause in the MINI build but I have set eyes for spring 2023.

I have a problem with the cut fenders (they were cut by former owner for 13 wheels). I now have trial fitted 3.5" arches, the 1.75" I wanted does not work with the cut fenders  :ohno:

If possible I want to stick to 10" wheels. Maybe deep/wide revolution 10 wheels would make it look better?

1)  Anyone aware of 1.75" arches that fit "cut" fenders? Will later Mini flares be an option?

2) What 12 inch wheels will look right if I have to go that way?

The images show where we are today.
