Hi again,

I'm in the proces of finishing up my 1330 build and encountered some problems with the banjo bolt. The wrong banjobolt was fitted I think (previous owner just glued it in I guess) Threads seem chewed up in the block. I was looking for the right bolt but can't find it. So I looked at conversion kits, 2 fittings and a braided line. None of the sizes correspond with what I have measured.

The measurements:

  • Banjobolt that came with the engine: Thread minor: 14.7mm, major: 15.6mm
  • Hole in block: 16.2mm
  • Oil filter housing fitting: housing side maj 13mm min 12.3mm
  • Oil filter housing fitting: pipe side maj 15.7mm min 14.8mm

Oil filter housing: 12A2032 So I would think 1/4 pipe thread which is 13.7mm but that's not what I'm measuring?

Banjo bolt should be 11/16unf which is around 17.5mm but I have 5/8 I think? It's a post 1992 engine so it should be 11/16 both block and bolt. The hole in the block is 16.2mm so the threads that are completely gone? Should be around 15mm minor, right?

The more I look into this the less that makes sense.

At this point I'm thinking to buy a conversion kit, drill out the block, tap a bigger thread and buy an extra custom fitting? Or is this saveable with a helicoil?

I'm lost!

Jens

What year is the block? As there are only two thread sizes in the block. Then we can say what it should have been.

ps the measurements will be imperial.

It's an A+ 1275 block that's all I know.

WFM 1024 block casting

12g940 head

cam6232 crankshaft

I always thought it was post 1990 but I'm beginning to doubt it because for example the oil filter housing is pre 1992.

I know that everything should be imperial, that's whats driving me crazy.

5/8 UNF is the standard size for the banjo bolt hole.
