I am currently in the process of building my 1275 A plus engine and I want to upgrade the camshaft while the engine is apart.
What is done to the engine:
Block and head decked
Head is slightly ported and polished( mainly to remove casting marks)

The engine is still standard bore.

Any recommendations on camshaft choice?

Thanks in advance .

As it’s pretty much a standard spec engine it’s pointless going for anything more than a very mild cam. Something like a Piper 255 or KC500 would be fine.

The EVO001 from Minispares is a nice cam for a mildly modified 1275. Very good price as well.

I'd go with Turbo Phil's advice, maybe even go for a 266 to give slightly more lift. No more than a 266 for the road IMO.

Also worth checking the head is unleaded fuel friendly

I've got an EVO001 in my 1310, very pleased with it too be honest. Had it set up on a rolling road and it pulls well, 76 bhp, not massive but good fun

266 is superb in a road engine, as is the similar MG Metro cam. I've had both and they are great.

Apparently one of the ACDodd ones gives all the benefits of the 266 plus a bit more with no negative impacts but I have no experience of this. Others on this forum have said good things about it.

I have the minispares evo 001 in my 1275 mg metro A+ and it works really well and is great value.

SW5 is a popular choice.

The standard cam worked well over 5k so no point in changing anything really.

so a MG metro can or a Kent MD266 will do.
