Most of the ones I’ve used barely have 3mm of material to extend the hole into.


Barely is enough though. Even if it ends up in a slot it's good enough to retain the rebound stop.
Avoids having to remove the top arm and modify it.
I have done quie a few like that.

I finally have overcome my laziness and took the top arm back out, removed the counternut of the HiLo's, shortened the adjuster bolt and then, after fitting the 3mm-shim to the top arm, putting it all back together worked a treat.
