C-A2S7 is the correct chassis code for a Cooper or Cooper S. Number 406769 would be pre 1964 and 997 or 1071cc

9F-SA-H is the correct engine code for a Cooper or Cooper S engine. The number matches in to a similar age to the chassis number from what I can find.

Of course it’s impossible to tell if those numbers match the shell/engine without a lot more information and research.

I think it is a 1962 - '63 997 Cooper. Very rare car these days as the 998 came in during early 1964 and the 997 was not a good engine.

However, these days a 997 is valuable for reasons of rarity. One in good condition will sell for a lot of money. But before buying, make sure the engine is in good condition with excellent oil pressure, no knocks or rattles, and running well. In particular, check the crankshaft end float and also that it does not blow smoke out of the oil filler cap when it is removed with the engine running at tickover.

You could ask the British motor Heritage to get this information,

It costs 6 pounds, but you can ask one question by mail. This is really good to know what is this car.
