The problem with conspiracy theories is that if you refer to too many at the same time it makes them look even more like conspiracy theories.

That is true. That's  a pity and your statemnt detracts fro unbderstading the matter of which I wrote.

Nontheless, these all apply to the supposed enemy  Russia, It is one theme, a theme which points to wishing to hurt  Russia.

We don't say, for example, I offer a lot of evidence in support of the thesis of Newtonian Mechnics, merely to be rebukjed for over-egging the pudding.

Now then, If I were to mention just one it wouldn't hold  much water would it? Like , mentioning the Skirpals without a war to follow  against Russian people in the erritory of Ukraine (DOnabss and furter), and subsequntly Russia, Or, the Skirpals and Russiagate (there's more) without  its' following upon the Syria intervention (A challenge to so-called 'Western' Hegemony, whatever democracy that supra-nation is).

In fact, the log standing attack upon Russia  has been contininuous in  its disgraceful diplomatic manners, and ridiculously contriviance. WHo cares it only hurts ourcelves? But unfortunately  the attack includes though attack upon Russians  in the territory of Ukraine.

I only mentioned a minimal  in the series  leading to a  world war. Withot apology.

Wha is important is that we employ our intelligence into a matter as a whole, not our emotionally led impressions of the matter, or dismissal of the speaker in any way.

Lets face it , it does take some considerable effort to lead people into a war of world-wide dimensions,  should I keep quiet about it, out of fear?

Pass the Bacofoil hat?

Why?   Are you serious or what?  What does that mean? Don't tell me, I know.

The thing about conspiracy theories is that if these things are so well hidden then how come the conspiracy theorists know about them?  They must be in on it! :D

There is zero excuse whatsoever for any support of Russian government and their absolutely outrageous flaunting of human rights, the well being of their own people, their blatant mishandling of facts (to put it politely) and the violent theft of Ukrainian property

Literally no one else is responsible for this war

anything else is just an attempt to divert from the clear-as-day facts, if you can actually follow the train of thought long enough to be diverted of course

OK I'm a little confused now, are we saying that ULEZ is in fact the idea of Putin or Zelenskyy? if not this thread has veered way off line.

The problem with ULEZ (especially now its expanding into the suburbs) is it generally penalises those who can least afford it.

Sadly the logic employed is that people drive around in old cars (10-15 years old) out of choice which for the majority isn't the case, they drive around in old polluting cars because they are cheap and its what they can afford.  With the previous drive for everyone to have a diesel as they were good for the environment (which was predictably a load of nonsense) most larger family cars (Mondeo/Insignia size) under 4K are diesel because they were bought new by the fleet market and anything that is Diesel and isn't Euro 6 has to pay the ULEZ charge.

People with more disposable income buy (or more generally rent) a new car and aren't affected so those that can afford it don't pay the charge and those that can't afford it have to or have to buy a newer car which they can't really afford.

When I taxed my car on gov.uk there was a calculator to show me how much cash an electric vehicle could save me.As A poorer retiree(my choices largely)I fall into an older car being affordable.I am at least the cost of said new vehicle in front.I feel for those affected.Steve..

The thing with electric vehicles as well is that if you can charge them at home overnight on a cheap EV tariff then they are cheap to run, if you charge them while you are out and about the cost per kWh is around 45-50p per unit by where I work and that would mean it costs about the same as my petrol Fiesta to run a similar size EV which isn't really any good to me as my fiesta is bought and paid for (2007 Euro 4 petrol so currently ULEZ compliant anyway) whereas a new EV would probably cost me £300+ per month to rent.

Can someone find the act of parliament, that says:-

A highway is a way over which there exists a public right of passage, that is to say a right for all Her Majesty's subjects at all seasons of the year Freely and at their will to pass and repass without let or hindrance.

I don't think that free right of passage has been altered, you can walk along the highway as much as you like and at no cost.  You just can't take you big lump of metal and plastic along it for free too.

(Although not sure how that works with roads such as the M6 Toll where you can't legally walk along it  )

Having read through the last two pages of comments, we found ourselves off track off the post from mab01uk.

Although there was a political element in the post we suddenly find oursleves delving into a deeper political diatribe ref the Ukrainian / Russia war.

Unintentionally i believe, so from that stand point can we keep things on track which is about ULEZ.

Thankyou.

presumably that's covered by the fact it's a 'motor' way and/or 'toll' road . i.e. only for powered vehicles and you have to pay, respectively

powered vehicles not to include E scooters lol did anyone see that complete joker in the news recently

apologies for my contribution to the off-topic, I can't help it sometimes when I see something that has to be responded to and I can't just let it sit unanswered

That’ll be gratis vs libre. I doubt the law will state roads are free (gratis) to use as turnpikes and toll roads have existed, probably longer than any law regarding them.

Free (libre) would be in relation to not suffering at the hands of highwaymen, putting the onus on the government to ensure safe passage.

And you could say that ‘they’ are being the highwaymen but as they are the government of HRH, you’ll get no joy there.

London 'Pay-per-Mile' Road Charging
"A series of Freedom of Information (FoI) requests submitted to TfL reveal Sadiq Khan has invested £150 million of Londoners' money into technology he could use to monitor and tax motorists who use their cars. The scheme has been named “Project Detroit” and it’s a ‘road user charging’ platform which will be able to support the London Congestion Charge, Ulez, HGV permit scheme and will also support toll charges for the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels. According to the FoI request, this system could also be adapted to support “other forms of charging based on distance, vehicle type etc” if TfL decided to implement such schemes in the future. The London Assembly launched a consultation on pay-per-mile road charging last year, describing it as having the potential to represent “the biggest change in how daily transport is paid since the introduction of Oyster and the Congestion Charge nearly 20 years ago”. A distance approach would see motorists pay depending on how far they drive, while the variable aspect could see differing fees applied depending on if a journey were for work, leisure, or the provision of essential services...."
